Stoneleigh Home

Stoneleigh Home Established in 1989 "Stoneleigh Home" is a family owned and managed concern which is registered to provide personal care to fourteen people of old age.

At Stoneleigh, we prioritise the well-being and comfort of our residents above all else. Our intimate setting ensures a sense of community and belonging, with only twelve residents forming our cherished extended family. Here, residents have the opportunity to socialise in our garden lounge or engage in meaningful conversations around our communal dining table, fostering connections and camaraderie among peers.

It was a very happy day for this wonderful lady yesterday. Jeannie enjoyed spending her 98th birthday with family in the summer house, with a picnic and of course a lovely cake made by Jill.

Work is planned to turn our pond area in to a more attractive and accessible feature of the garden. We’re planning subtle changes to the pond itself with a new liner and a water feature which will start at the top of the shrubbery and cascade its way in to the pond via a shallow water beach for ducklings and birds to drink. We’re adding UV filters pumps and filtration systems to keep the water clean and circulating, and stop it from becoming too green. The duck house will be anchored in the middle of the pond so predators cannot attack the ducklings when they hatch. There will two raised viewing areas suitable for wheelchairs, where residents can enjoy the tranquil sound of flowing water while watching the ducks. The old fence will be removed and replaced with a more natural looking version possibly using Hazel. We aim to landscape the shrubbery by adding new plants a new aviary for our birds and where we’ll put plaques in memory of previous residents. This will be a slow process as we wait for the firm to complete their current projects before they can start on ours, however we made a start yesterday by emptying the pond thanks to Ed and his pungent slurry tanker 👃💩

Joan, Mavis aka ‘Mave the Rave’ and Jean enjoyed a jaunt to Langlands Garden Centre yesterday with support from Gina. Joan was determined to spend her voucher for £9 but had to put a bit towards her purchase. Jean and Mavis contemplated some racket sports before it was time for a coffee, and then back to base with cake for everyone to enjoy with tea.

Our fantastic team enjoyed a day at Beverley races yesterday. This was to say a big thank you for the great care and support they give our residents and for making Stoneleigh the home it is.
The girls all met at Stoneleigh for a glass of Prosecco and photos with the residents, who had never seen them out of their uniforms. Then a taxi to the race course and something to eat in the bistro, oh yes more Prosecco. 🍾🍸🍸Despite the 33 degree heat everyone seemed to enjoy themselves backing a few winners and then tearing up Beverley afterwards. Not everyone could or wanted to go to the races but they are just as important in making a huge difference to the lives of our residents.
Well done team and thanks for everything you do, you’re all appreciated.

A trip to Burnby Hall Gardens was brought forward today due to the extreme weather conditions expected this afternoon.
We left this morning while the temperature was pleasant and there was a cool breeze.
Armed with water, sun cream, hats and umbrellas we set off for the gardens. Jeannie, Margaret and Betty were corralled into the van with Jane, Sue and Julie volunteering the push wheel chairs.
As usual the fish were ravenous and needless to say 6 bags of fish food were purchased and subsequently thrown into the open mouths of the carp. Ice creams to finish off and then back home in time for lunch.

Some from the village produce show at the weekend. The show was hosted by Stoneleigh, and our residents were able to take part and look at all the exhibits on display in various classes.

The Purple Pig Company was also on attendance with Rachel bringing her lovely animals for people young and old to pet.

We won the overall prize for the show for the third year running and received the trophy which is engraved with all the previous winners on the back. Betty won third prize for her blanket which she was really proud of.

These events are becoming rarer now but we have a fantastic village community which ensures that the show is put on every year. Thank you to everyone who was involved.
