Should you train for aesthetics? 🙃

17 years ago when I entered this industry, ‘toxic skinny’ was in fashion.

The industry has swung.

But maybe too far?

It’s almost frowned upon to say you want to train to look and feel amazing in your own skin.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t train for health or for performance.

But I’m also saying that if training to feel radiant as you enter a room and confidence that transforms you…

That’s valid. Very valid.

Should you go about it the right way? Lift weights, fuel yourself… absolutely.

Hear my view on today’s podcast.

Body positivity starts with personal responsibility 👇🏼

How did we get to this point where training to look and feel amazing in your own skin became toxic and frowned upon?

Women have come to me for help recently, almost apologetic about their goals.

“I know I shouldn’t care, but I just want to look like I train”

“I know it’s about more than how I look, but I can’t bare what I see in the mirror”

If you want to look like a bad ass who lifts weights and feel like a million dollars when you get your kit off then… Let’s. Fu***ng. Go.

Stop apologising for holding yourself responsible for doing something about it and taking back control.

Stop apologising for wanting to change how your body looks instead of shouting affirmations in the mirror trying to manifest confidence.

I’m not saying it’s ALL about how you look and vanity.

Women especially can be super critical about their bodies and absolutely should love themselves first, what amazing things their body is capable of .

But. I would die on this hill.

Taking personal responsibility for improving your confidence aesthetically WHILST loving yourself for who you are and what you can do is where it’s really at.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t train to look unreal. If that’s what you really care about.

My advice would be the pair it with improving what your body can do as well.

Meet Zoe ✨

I still remember our first conversation clearly — not because of what she WASN’T doing, but because of how much she WAS doing.

Zoe was doing literally, everything. And I mean everything.

She had her blood work tested. She was following a personalised nutrition plan based around the results. She was training consistently. Tracking. The lot.

Her attention to detail was actually pretty elite but the results didn’t reflect it. No wonder she felt a little miffed by it all.

It certainly wasn’t a lack of effort.

Zoe was passionate about health, training, and nutrition. So naturally, she was drawn to different methods and protocols and went all in on them all.

The problem? It was all too scattered.

She was following a lot of good ideas, but not one clear direction. She was doing more than most, but not what she specifically needed.

So we stripped it all back.

We simplified and we built a strategy that guaranteed her the lean, toned physique she wanted. But it also worked for her, as she needed to train from home.

We stopped chasing complexity and aligned everything towards the outcome she really wanted.

And as soon as we aligned her effort with an actual system?

Her body changed. Her energy changed. Her confidence changed.

It’s likely not a lack of effort for you either. It’s more likely a lack of clarity and direction towards the specific outcome you want.

Feel like you need some clarity in your direction like Zoe? DM the word “ZOE” and I’ll talk you through how it’s done 🫡

An important note if you want abs…

If you want to grow your biceps, you pick up weights, flex them and extend them.

If you want to grow your triceps, you hold weights, flex them and extend them.

You guessed it…

If you want to develop your abs to make them stronger or more visible post fat loss. You’re going to need to load them, flex them and extend them.

It really is that simple 🤷🏻‍♂️

Train and like you train glutes and you’ll be grand 🫡

⚡️ BCC Live June ‘26 ⚡️

This is a free, but closed event. By invitation only.

I could sell tickets and I could open it to the public, but I don’t and here’s why…

It’s an exclusive event for the 50 clients from across the world that I personally coach at the time of the event. It’s an opportunity for them to do 3 things.

Learn from me and one another, get depth and context to their own unique situation, create a community full of momentum to push each other forwards.

I don’t believe coaching should be online or in person, I think it should be both.

And I also feel strongly about who comes into this community.

I’m not your guy if you don’t care about the mechanics and specifics of training.

I’m not your guy if you think you “just need more discipline” and a calorie deficit.

I’m not your guy if you think you’ve “done research” because you watch Instagram reels.

I’m the guy for those who understand that there are levels to this.

I’m the coach who wants you to talk about him in 10 years time as the coach who changed everything for you.

Who lead from the front, educated you and took the time to dive into the intricate depth and nuances that you’ve been missing all these years.

So that’s why I put these events on exclusively for my clients. I don’t HAVE to… most coaches don’t.

But this isn’t about what most coaches do, it’s about being willing to do what most coaches won’t for the extra 10% that clients need.

See you there.

Stop it 🛑

I’m not saying you don’t struggle.
I’m not saying time isn’t harder to carve out.
And I’m not saying life stress doesn’t pile on.

But I am saying that YOU are responsible for your own outcomes.

You’re not helpless to the ‘bad knees’ and it’s not just a ‘layer of menopause fat’.

The bottom line is, you just haven’t done the things required to create or maintain the appearance, strength and capability that you want.

You may be completely ok with that, because there’s no avoiding the fact that the things required are HARD.

But don’t blame age like it was inevitable.

There’s too many women making the commitment and disproving the theory for me to buy that anymore.

I said what I said 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is the golden triangle when it comes to building muscle as a female.

120g+ of protein
Sufficient calories to fuel training
Hard and heavy sets to failure

There’s always pushback whenever I say this, usually by those who are married to a particular modality of training, so let me be clear:

I’m talking to the women who care about training effectively and efficiently. The ones who want to get the most from their sessions and not waste time and energy on ineffective methods.

If you enjoy your way of training, keep at it 🫡

If you’re frustrated with progress, it might be time to take note.

Or just drop me a DM with the word RECOMP and I’ll help you figure out why 🫶🏻

Even the dog can’t believe it 😨

Meet Sophie ✨

You won’t believe this… there’s just 1.5kg difference between those two pictures. Madness!

Sophie has completely transformed her physique and in doing so she’s perfectly demonstrated how to body recomposition effectively. Something nobody ever seems to get right.

So how did she do it?

1. Dieting Strategy - After initially struggling to get traction, we held a strategy call and made a huge shift. We broke her nutrition strategy down into sprints and never looked back. It’s not always about being on a deficit, it’s finding a strategy to create one effectively.

2. Training Quality & Consistency - Sophie wasn’t new to training, but she was new to the level of structure and progression I like to prescribe. That paired with some quality improvements means her body has responded perfectly to the stimulus.

3. Nutrition Specificity - Most people aim for “good amounts” of protein and a calorie deficit, we needed to get more specific. Body Recomp doesn’t happen by eating in a deficit, it happens because you’re extremely specific with how you fuel your body.

Literally EVERYONE says they want to lose fat and build muscle, very very few people actually do.

Going to the gym and eating in a calorie deficit with a bit of protein IS NOT body recomp. It’s the foundation for what’s next.
