It was an absolute pleasure working with Lucy from The Welbeck Hotel. As soon as we had a chat she said she didn't understand why people WOULDN'T get braille and large print menus. Preach! 🙌🏼

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Mitch and the team at JUST Pizza & Pasta.

When an establishment provides Dot & Type large print and braille menus there is a decal that will be provided for you to stick in your window to show your customers that these menus are available within the premises!

Culture Vannin x Dot & Type

Ruth from Culture Vannin asked me (Dot & Type) if I could make the 'MIND YOUR LANGUAGE!' exhibition in the Manx Museum, accessible for the blind and low vision community and I absolutely jumped at the opportunity.

To be able to showcase my culture and heritage whilst blending my passion for accessibility and equality was truly an honour.

When making the exhibition accessible, no stone was left unturned.

What Dot & Type created to make the exhibition as accessible as possible:

Guides - braille and large print.
Braille labels
Tactile images
Audio description scripts and editing/alt text for all videos within the exhibition.

Did I mention that a lot of this work was in another language?! Manx!

So, needless to say, this was a very big job, but one I had SO much fun working on. The collaboration was the best part. Working with Ruth and Culture Vannin was an absolute dream, and you can tell how passionate she was about making this whole exhibition accessible. Yes to more people like you in business, Ruth!!

Because, why should someone be left out experiencing art and culture, due to sight loss?

I look forward to working on many more future projects like this one!

YINDYSSAGH!!!

Here is a little taster of what to expect when accessing the 'Mind Your Language!' Exhibition, for blind and low vision visitors.

No stone was left unturned when making this exhibition fully accessible for the BLV community.

It was an absolute honour to work alongside Culture Vannin and I look forward to making more exhibitions accessible in the future.

Because no-one should miss out on the opportunity to access culture, art and heritage.

The exhibition is running from 25th April to 4th October, and I really hope it makes a difference to people with sight loss, no matter how big or small.

MIND YOUR LANGUAGE! 🇮🇲

It was incredible to work alongside the lovely Ruth from Culture Vannin to make their exhibition of the Manx language accessible for the blind and low vision community.

Dot & Type provided:
Large Print Guide
Braille Guide
Tactile & Simplified Images
Braille labelling
Audio Description (with Ruth as voiceover)
Everything in the exhibition has alt text description within the guides, too!

The exhibition is within the Manx Museum and launches tomorrow and will run until October! So be sure to pop down.

I had so much fun working on this project. And to say I felt a real sense of pride to be Manx, whilst working on this, was an understatement. Yindyssagh!

Accessible Stationery

We're super excited to announce our new collaboration to you all!

We will be working together to offer couples bespoke wedding stationery inclusive to people who are blind and visually impaired.

Alongside Hannah's printed stationery, I will provide a braille overlay, full braille versions and also large print alternatives of any of the stationery items.

We’ll work closely to ensure the whole package is beautiful, inclusive and unique to you. We believe passionately that having a visual impairment should not be a barrier to experiencing beautiful design and print.
