THREE REASONS YOU MAY WANT TO REDUCE THE INTAKE OF PASTRIES.
Pastries tend to be high in saturated fats that come from the margarine used in making pastries. Saturated fats in diet have been identified as a major risk factor leading to cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack, stroke etc in numerous research.
Moreover, refined sugar are usually used in making pastries which cause a sharp rise in blood sugar, over stimulate and eventually exhaust the mechanism that reduces blood sugar over time, consequently leading to diabetes and its complications.
Last but not least is baking soda which is added to pastries. It increase the level of sodium in the blood beyond normal especially when pastries are frequently consumed. The likely dangerous health implication is high blood pressure (hypertension). One thing to think through is that our fore fathers lived longer,,,and obviously pastries were not part of their diet. Maybe we can do ourselves lots of good if we consume these foods moderately and if possible occasionally.
