Physician & Public Health Professional | WHO/TDR Implementation Research Leadership Fellow | Strengthening Health Systems through Infectious Disease Research, Epidemiology, Health Economics & Population Health

28/04/2026

This month, I had the opportunity to present my progress as a WHO/TDR Research and Leadership Fellow.
And honestly, it’s been more than just research.
I’m building a strong foundation in implementation research, while also growing in areas that really matter communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership.
What stands out for me is the growth happening behind the scenes, the discipline, the learning curve, and the commitment to becoming a better public health professional.
As an early-career researcher with a passion for global health, experiences like this are shaping my thought and the spectable i view global healrh issues
Grateful for the journey and mentors and excited for what lies ahead.

🧠 Meningitis: Know the Signs. Act Fast.
Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi — but bacterial meningitis is a medical emergency.
⚠️ Common symptoms: • Sudden high fever
• Severe headache
• Neck stiffness
• Vomiting
• Sensitivity to light
• Confusion or difficulty waking
• In children: bulging fontanelle, poor feeding, excessive crying
⏳ Symptoms can worsen quickly within hours.
🛡 Prevention: ✔ Vaccination (MenA, MenACWY, Pneumococcal, Hib)
✔ Early treatment of infections
✔ Avoid overcrowded, poorly ventilated spaces
If you suspect meningitis, go to the nearest hospital immediately. Early treatment saves lives.

Cervical Cancer: A Conversation Every Woman Needs to Have

I want to speak directly to the women in my network: cervical cancer is real, silent, but preventable. Many women don’t realize it develops slowly, often with no symptoms in the early stages, and that early detection can literally save lives.

Here’s what you should know:

It starts in the cervix, the lower part of the uterus.

The main cause is HPV, a common virus; most infections go away naturally, but some persist and can lead to cancer.

Risk factors include not getting screened, smoking, weakened immunity, or early/multiple sexual activity.

Screening and vaccination are your best defenses, they catch changes before cancer develops.

I share this because too many women suffer silently. If you haven’t had a Pap smear, an HPV test, or the vaccine, please prioritize your health. And if you know a woman who needs to hear this, tag her or share this post.

Knowledge saves lives. Awareness empowers us. Let’s start the conversation.
