A Boy on the Byway: Nurse Turns Roadside Into Delivery Room
Mr. John Yousah Laar is an Enrolled Nurse working at Jumbo Chere, a farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality.
This morning, John was en route to a workshop in Nkwanta but his journey took an unexpected life-saving detour.
He met a heavuly pregnant with the husband trekking to Allege Akura . John saw how tired and weak the woman was at that point and felt that all was not well with the woman. John stopped, trusting his instincts to take stock of the situation. His clinical mind told him at once that the woman was in the last stages of labor.
Riding past was never an option for a passionate young nurse like John. His career mission is to eliminate unsafe home and unassisted deliveries across his catchment area.
With no delivery room, no hospital bed, and only his professional instinct and a pair of gloves, John turned a roadside into a safe sanctuary. At exactly 7:30 AM,, through his skilled assistance and calm reassurance, a bouncing baby made a safe, healthy entrance into the world.
Healthcare is not confined to the four walls of a clinic. It's about answering the call of duty wherever life happens."
We celebrate Nurse John Yousah Laar today for his exceptional bravery, alertness, and unwavering commitment to maternal and child health. He didn't just deliver a baby this morning, rather, he delivered hope, inspired a community, and proved that heroes truly wear scrubs.
Join us in applauding Mr. John Yousah Laar for his incredible act of service! ππβ€οΈ
