The 4-7-8 breathing technique is a powerful relaxation tool that helps calm the nervous system and gently guide the body into a state of rest.
⨠Inhale quietly through your nose for 4 countsâ¨â¨ Hold your breath for 7 countsâ¨â¨ Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 counts
Repeat for 4 rounds.
Why it works:â¨đ The extended exhale activates the parasympathetic nervous systemâthe bodyâs natural relaxation response.â¨đ Helps slow the heart rate and quiet a busy mind.â¨đ Reduces feelings of stress and anxiety.â¨đ Encourages deeper relaxation and better sleep quality.
This is one of my favourite techniques to use before bed, after a stressful day, or anytime I need to create a sense of calm.
