Για πάρα πολλούς πρόσφυγες και μετανάστες, ο οδοντικός πόνος δεν είναι κάτι που μπορούν απλά να αντιμετωπίσουν και να ξεπεράσουν.
Η τερηδόνα και τα μη θεραπευμένα οδοντικά προβλήματα μπορούν να αναγκάσουν παιδιά και γονείς να ζουν με εξουθενωτικό πόνο, συχνά με ελάχιστες επιλογές για περίθαλψη.
Αυτόν τον Οκτώβριο, η SAMS στέλνει μια εθελοντική οδοντιατρική ομάδα, αποτελούμενη από οδοντιάτρους, χειρουργούς στόματος και φοιτητές οδοντιατρικής, στην Αθήνα, στην Ελλάδα, για να προσφέρει επείγουσα περίθαλψη σε πρόσφυγες και μετανάστες.
Από τις 19 έως τις 23 Οκτωβρίου, η ομάδα θα πραγματοποιήσει οδοντιατρικές εξετάσεις και θεραπείες, συμπεριλαμβανομένων εξαγωγών δοντιών, παρηγορητικής φροντίδας, συμβουλευτικής για την στοματική υγιεινή και τη διατροφή, καθώς και υποστήριξης για τη διακοπή του καπνίσματος.

Tooth decay and untreated dental conditions can leave children and parents living with debilitating pain, often with few options for care.
This October, SAMS is sending a volunteer dental team of dentists, oral surgeons, and dental students to Athens, Greece, to provide urgently needed care to refugees and migrants.
From October 19–23, the team will provide dental screenings and treatments, including extractions, palliative care, oral hygiene and diet counseling, and smoking-cessation support.
