Torsemide vs Furosemide – Which Diuretic Works Better?

Torsemide and Furosemide are loop diuretics commonly used to treat fluid retention (edema) and heart failure.

✅ Torsemide
• Longer duration of action
• Better and more predictable absorption from the gut
• Often requires once-daily dosing
• May provide more consistent fluid control in some patients

✅ Furosemide
• One of the most commonly prescribed diuretics worldwide
• Effective for edema due to heart failure, kidney disease, and liver disease
• May require multiple daily doses in some patients
• Available in oral and injectable forms

⚠️ Both medicines increase urine output and can affect electrolyte levels such as potassium and sodium. Regular medical follow-up is important. The choice depends on your condition, response to treatment, and your doctor's recommendation.
