It feels so fulfilling to know how the Red Moon Circle School is making a tangible difference in women’s lives:
“The last module was very powerful and enlightening. It helped me clarify many abstract ideas about patriarchy and identify practical aspects of how it shows up in my life and the people I know. I trust my body more, I feel a deeper acceptance of myself and empathy towards myself and others. I feel relieved from other people's views about how my body looks or what I wear.”
And while my 1:1 work has been less visible than my circles, it's what I’ve devoted at least half of my time to for over 13 years now with much joy and impact!
A client wrote me the other day:
“Today in a team building exercise my personality type was creative while some years ago it was strict perfectionist. I'm convinced that it's all the inner work that I've been doing with you that has allowed me to open up, to tap into my emotions and creativity.”
I also want to share some of the background story to my July offerings:
Lately I - like many of the women I work with - am feeling the impact of the tough economic climate which means that we have less to spend on women's spaces and self care.
The past few years as women we have collectively decided to devote our spare time, energy and money to things that matter to us - building communities of sisterhood, growth and power across the world.
Reclaiming pre-patriarchal knowledge about our bodies and connection to the natural world.
Building a post-patriarchal toolkit for a different world to come.
This is deeply meaningful because our economic empowerment has meant that we’re able to reshape our lives according to the female gaze, following female desire - creating what we long for, instead of consuming what patriarchal structures tell us we want.
And in the process, dissatisfaction is spreading with the patriarchal ways because we now have a felt sense of how things could be oh so different.
Perhaps we have awakened the pre-patriarchal memories in our bones. The memories of our ancestresses living before patriarchy took hold of our motherlines.
We certainly have kindled a hope for the dysfunctioning patriarchal structures to crumble.
For something new, something matriarchal, to rise from the ashes.
Yet my big picture mind - some of you may know that I used to work in strategy consulting and scenario planning in London in my late 20s and early 30s! - also sees another scenario.
One where women’s spaces get marginalised once again now that Trump & co are wrecking the economy, eroding women’s spending power.
The beauty medicine we’ve jointly been building is extra vulnerable because most women still earn substantially less than men and many are dependent on men for access to finances at all.
And not just economically vulnerable, also psychologically as internalised patriarchal voices rear their heads to proclaim that a beauty medicine experience is a nice to have, not something essential for life.
Yet it is essential - to survive the misery of the dead throws of patriarchy that we see all around us.
Beauty is vital medicine, it’s the voice of harmony with the land, of the original instructions for how to be in right relationship with the earth and all her creatures.
It’s exactly what will lead us out of patriarchy into a society that centers life, not destruction.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how to sustain beauty medicine while it’s under pressure. How to sustain women like me who have dedicated their lives to sustaining other women.
There has to be a way to support all of us so we can make it through to the other side - through the collapse of patriarchy into the promise of matriarchy.
Because that’s exactly what matriarchy is about - a circular economy and society nourishing all.
My July offers are a very humble attempt at that, constrained as I am by rising monthly costs in the current linear growth model of economy and society.
If you’re hesitating to book or have any questions or ideas, just reach out to chat - I’m always happy to connect!
Including about how to work together even if these offers are not financially affordable for you.
With love and sisterhood from Crete 🌹
