Apart from the first trimester, with the nausea, emotional fluctuations and uncertainty, I’ve deliberately chosen to enjoy this pregnancy and all its moments.
I don’t know what having a child is really like yet, but I already feel that both my husband and I have grown so much through this experience, in the nicest way possible.
It was sometimes hard in the beginning, but we worked through it all, and it has brought us closer—being kinder to one another, being there to care for and love each other, instead of standing in the corner judging what the other could be doing better.
And let’s be honest, he was never judgmental toward me. At times, I was. But he didn’t care. He is always steady, supportive, with a sweet smile on his face, reminding me not to take things so seriously, to stay cool and calm, and to keep focusing on the love I have to give rather than expecting it from anyone else.
This changes everything.
Real love is not about being loved as much as it is about loving.
I had learned this before, but somewhere along the way I forgot it for a while. Pregnancy has a way of making your own needs and emotions take center stage. And they should! It’s a season that asks a lot of you. But there’s a difference between receiving love and support, and expecting the whole world to revolve around you. Everyone, including your partner - is carrying their own responsibilities and challenges too.
Thankfully, I didn’t stay there for long, and I managed to find the clarity to be there for myself, my baby, my husband, and my friends.
And it feels so good to LOVE.
Take this as a little reminder not to expect things from anyone today. Instead, be the one to give exactly what you’d like to receive - and just see how that feels 😌
