When you teach yoga you are creating art.

Eran names something we do not talk about enough in the yoga world. Teaching is an art, and the “style” that matters most is the one that actually comes from your heart, your life, your practice, and what you have lived. 🩷

In this reel, he shares how we approach yoga and teaching. As a process of helping students find their own voice, and learn how to shape a class in a way that feels true to them. The tools are there, but the expression is yours. ✨

If you have ever felt pressure to teach like someone else, let this be a reminder that your unique expression is the whole point.

Save this for the next time you need permission to teach from who you are, not who you think you should be.

Most beings move through life hypnotized by names, identities, appearances, stories, and forms lost to the deeper forces that shape existence.

The ancient yogic sciences teach that behind all manifestations are the tattwas , the elemental principles and energetics of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space.
These are not merely physical substances, but living currents of consciousness and energy moving through body, breath, mind, and cosmos.

To study the tattwas is to study the architecture of consciousness itself. To know the tattwas is to begin seeing beyond surface reality.

When we remain unconscious of these inner forces, we become lost in illusion, identified only with personality, emotions, and external form. This is what the text calls darkness: forgetfulness of our deeper nature and the reality of the great mystery behind all precived notions.

At Shamana Yoga we honor the living stream of the yogic tradition, the sacred transmission of wisdom passed from teacher to student across generations.

In these photos is Eran’s guru, Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, from whom he received yogic initiations and transmission of wisdom .

Swami Niranjanananda is the spiritual successor of Swami Satyananda a disciple of Swami Shivananda and the head of the Bihar School of Yoga, one of the most influential modern yoga traditions integrating classical yoga, ta**ra, karma yoga, meditation, and spiritual life into daily living.

His teachings emphasize that yoga is not only physical practice, but a complete path of awareness, discipline, service, and inner transformation.

In the yogic tradition, a guru is not simply a teacher of techniques, but one who helps illuminate the inner path.
At Shamana, we carry this light with deep gratitude and reverence.

Through practice, mantra, kirtan, meditation, seva, and community, we continue to share the wisdom that was entrusted to us, honoring the roots of our yogic tradition.

“A guru never sees himself as a guru. He always sees himself as a disciple of his own guru.”

May we always remain students of truth, walking the path with reverence, openness, and devotion.

Did you know that Ganesha Sharanam is a releasing chant?

Chanting has the power to shift emotional states and open the heart.🩷 One of the chants we repeat often at Shamana is an invocation to Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and guardian of new beginnings.

It goes like:

Ganesha Sharanam X 2
Ganapataye Ganapataye x 2

We have seen how emotions transform, and a sense of connection naturally arises through kirtan. Do you feel the same?🫶✨

Breath of Joy is a practice that awakens the entire being.
Through rhythmic movement and powerful inhalations, stagnant energy begins to move, the chest opens, and vitality starts to rise through the body.

At Shamana Atitlan, we use breathof.Joy in the Air elument sequence to shift emotions , elevate energy, and reconnect with the aliveness within us.

With each expansive inhale, we invite clarity, courage, and joy into the heart, than the breath becomes a bridge between heaviness and lightness, between exhaustion and renewal, between the thinking mind and the living present moment.

In this way transformation begins with something as simple and sacred as breathing fully. 🌬️✨

One of our favorites is a balancing breath that combines alternate nostril breathing with an equal count. It is steady, calming, and creates a sense of inner symmetry when your mind feels loud.

Try this for 5 minutes.

Inhale left for 4
Hold for 4
Exhale right for 4
Hold empty for 4
Then switch sides and repeat.

Keep the breath soft, never forced.
If retention creates strain, skip the holds at first.
The quality of relaxation is more important than increasing the count.

Benefits often associated with this practice:

Calms the nervous system
Improves concentration and mental clarity
Balances energy
Supports emotional balance
The even count creates a feeling of internal order and can
Develop breath awareness
Prepares for meditation

When life feels full, we come back to simple practices that actually work. ✨

Move gently and keep the breath smooth. Let it be a reset, not another thing to do perfectly.

Save this for the day you need it! 🫶
