President Irfaan Ali today shared his governmentโ€™s plans for a Social Housing Programme; targeting persons living in extreme circumstances, including elderly people, single parents and persons with severe disabilities.

He was at the time addressing residents at the Good Hope Primary School in Supenaam, Region Two, during consultations on the Model Village Initiative.

The President stressed that the programme; which was announced in July, is specifically intended for those facing the most difficult living conditions.

He said the programme will be launched within weeks; providing eligible beneficiaries with a 400-square-foot as a housing solution.

The government is targeting the construction of between 3,000 and 5,000 social homes under this initiative.
