The National Commission on Disability recently met with Minister Susan Rodrigues for a productive discussion on advancing accessibility and inclusion within Guyana’s tourism sector. 💙♿

The engagement focused on creating more accessible tourism experiences, promoting disability awareness and strengthening opportunities for persons with disabilities across the sector.

From conversation to action. 💙
Our Chairman and members of our Commission met with Minister Oneidge Walrond for a meaningful and productive engagement focused on advancing disability inclusion in Guyana.

The discussions provided an opportunity to address key matters affecting persons with disabilities, identify solutions and strengthen collaboration moving forward. Together, we remain committed to turning meaningful conversations into meaningful action and creating a more accessible and inclusive Guyana for all. 🤝♿

Progress towards more inclusive and accessible housing in Guyana. 🏠💙
This initiative represents an important step in supporting persons with disabilities and others facing challenging living conditions.

𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 “𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬” – 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬. 𝐀𝐥𝐢

President Irfaan Ali today shared his government’s plans for a Social Housing Programme; targeting persons living in extreme circumstances, including elderly people, single parents and persons with severe disabilities.

He was at the time addressing residents at the Good Hope Primary School in Supenaam, Region Two, during consultations on the Model Village Initiative.

The President stressed that the programme; which was announced in July, is specifically intended for those facing the most difficult living conditions.

He said the programme will be launched within weeks; providing eligible beneficiaries with a 400-square-foot as a housing solution.

The government is targeting the construction of between 3,000 and 5,000 social homes under this initiative.
