🏆 [OKOsix named 1st Runner-Up - EQT Impact Challenge 2026] 🏆
We’re proud to share that OKOsix has been named First Runner-Up of the EQT Impact Challenge Hong Kong 2026, securing a €250K investment from Central Cove Group, the family office of Jean Eric Salata, Chair of EQT Group.

This is not just a recognition, it helps OKOsix accelerate R&D and global commercialisation, unlocking over USD 1M in sales pipeline + 250K matching fund from Poly University + 230K investment funds from HKSTP, and more!

Selected from more than 200 applicants, the challenge supports scientists and entrepreneurs bringing breakthrough solutions from lab to market across health, climate and sustainability. We’re grateful to the EQT Group, EQT Foundation, SCMP Live, Jean Eric Salata and the judges Cilia Holmes Indahl, Clara chan, Eric Ng, Dr Alexis Cheng, Eugene Tang for recognizing the potential of our technology and our ambition to replace fossil-based plastics with safer, high-performance materials.

The ocean generates over 50% of the world's oxygen.

The ocean absorbs 30% of the CO2 we produce.

However, plastic contamination is dismantling this vital system from the inside out.

Every year, 23MT of plastic (covering ~18,000+ football fields) leaks into our waterways.

These materials fragment into microplastics that harm Prochlorococcus—the tiny organisms responsible for 1 in every 5 breaths we take, reducing its efficiency in producing oxygen and cycling carbon.

A Rewarding Trip – and 2026 🇦🇹
🎯 One important mission when pitching on global stages is to relentlessly drive and share how we are turning our vision into action:

To replace fossil plastics and tackle the plastic problem at its root, addressing the essential, high-performance, high-usage disposable applications that people rely on every day — from medical masks and gowns to personal care products and beyond.

We are not another bioplastic packaging playbook. Our ambition is to set the new standard for next-generation high-performance material solutions.

Throughout the program, I had the privilege of speaking with VCs, government funds, impact investors, angel investors, founders, innovators, and corporate leaders from around the world who showed strong interest in what OKOsix is building.

🚀 Beyond the conversations, I could also feel the pace is accelerating, and the driving forces behind the circular transition are increasingly moving into action across Europe.

These experiences reinforced the urgency to build faster and execute stronger for our stakeholders. 💪

The future of circularity will not be driven by sustainability alone — it also needs to make business sense and create real economic value.
