Cattleya Association is an NGO (Non Profit Organization) established officially in 2014, in Roatán, Honduras. What began with the parents of 6 children with Downs Syndrome has become CEC, a center of education for children of different abilities. It is amazing to watch them growing and learning every day.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. The 15th of September!

RUG, in collaboration with Cattleya Education Center and Shelly Trevino, organized another enriching arts and crafts event for individuals with special needs, supported by dedicated volunteers. The event commenced with an engaging lesson on proper tooth brushing techniques, skillfully led by our member Henry Bennett, a former dentist. Using Johnny Dummy for demonstration, participants were delighted to receive their own toothbrushes and toothpaste to practice with.

Following this, attendees enjoyed painting small canvases, expressing their creativity before indulging in toast topped with delicious ice cream. Volunteers Melanie and Triana, in perfect harmony, assured everyone with a heartfelt promise:

“We will come back.”

These events hold immense value for the participants, who often find themselves at home alone while their family members are occupied with work or school. RUG is committed to continuing this initiative, ensuring that arts and crafts remain a joyful and inclusive outlet for them in the future.
