The winter period and our well-being, part 3
Why can affect winter our mood in a negative way? Researchers and doctors have found the following reasons:
- shorter days and less sunshine can disrupt our circadian rhythm (biological clock);
- lack of sunlight can cause a decrease in serotonin levels
- early darkness and shorter days can stimulate the body to produce more melatonin (melatonin plays a big role in sleep)
- Vitamin D deficiency
- a more passive, withdrawn lifestyle
- extra stress

The winter period and our well-being, part 2
Have you heard of seasonal affective disorder (SAD)? SAD is characterized by recurring negative mood that regularly occurs during the winter and negatively affects our everyday life. In today's post, we have brought you the most typical symptoms:
- Feeling sad/down most of the day every day
- Feeling hopeless or worthless
- Oversleeping
- Tiredness or low energy
- Appetite changes
- Craving for foods high in carbohydrates
- Weight gain
- Difficulty concentrating
It is important that if you experience these yourself, do not be afraid to ask for help. At the same time, we would also like to point out that a certain degree of slowing down or feeling moody is normal in winter. We will also write about this in our next post, stay tuned!

The winter period and our well-being, part 1

Towards the end of the year and approaching the colder days, we have prepared another series of interesting articles: in our next few posts, we will talk about what factors can affect our mood and well-being during this period! (We had similar posts during the summer heat, available under the hashtag 🙂)
Why is it good to know these things? The cold can affect our mood, and although we can't do anything against the changes in the weather and seasons, it's really good to know our own reactions and the natural functioning of our body! In this way, we can perhaps get useful tips and ideas on how to fight the negative effects.

What do you think about winter? Do you like this seaoson? Or is it too much associated with the exam period and hard studying?

Let's talk about positive self-talk ^_^
