About Anand Ashram by Krishna on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 3:44pm
From pluralistic all-inclusive and all-embracing nationalism to internationalism - this has been our motto, this has been our goal from the very conception of our institution. We are service organization, a non governmental institution - yes. We are Service Organization and Non-Governmental Institution with a special Spi
ritual fervour. Yes, we are Spiritually oriented Non-Governmental Service Organization/Institution, and yet, we are not allergic to the word "religion" as many of our friends are. Although, we also respect the disappointment of our friends and their reluctance to do anything with even the word "religion". Our approach toward religions is that of all-embracing. We consider the different religions as equally valid pathways leading to God, or rather, the Goodness within each and every living and "apparently" non-living beings. I am asked by many friends, "what is Anand Ashram" - "what do you mean by 'spiritual activism" - "where is your organization leading to?". I must answer these and many other similar questions and queries. As stipulated in our charter, the goal of Anand Ashram is betterment of society. It is the CREATION OF HEAVEN ON EARTH. Our Vision has always been very clearly stipulated: ONE EARTH, ONE SKY, ONE HUMANKIND. Now, to achieve this goal, to realize this vision - we have chosen the Way of Meditation. And, the Way of Meditation is the Way of Being the Change that we want to see in the world, as Mahatma Gandhi would put it. Meditation, to me, is not only sitting for a couple of minutes or couple of hours everyday in silence, or doing some kind of exercises. Yes, it is all that, but not just that. Meditation is about living meditatively. It is about expressing the peace within, and lovingly serving the global family. It is about living harmoniously with nature. Therefore,
We cannot sit silently at the site of exploitation of Mother Nature and our natural resources. We cannot keep quiet looking at fellow living beings, and not just the human beings, being mistreated. Hence,
We are activists, spiritual activists. We stand against all kinds of injustice, hypocricy, and lip-service. We are not silent meditators, we are active, and very dynamic meditators. All our actions, though, bear clear marks of our meditative state within. We do not accept violence in any form, whether it is inflicted upon others, or upon ourselves. We respond to both the apparent acts of violence as well as the disguised ones. We have our ways, our non-violent ways, to address such acts. We have never been quiet at the sight of injustice, violence, and mistreatment - and we shall never ever be quiet. This note, in all my humility, is dedicated to all those friends who have been asking me for the past few weeks. I hope, i pray i have anwered your questions. As ever, i seek your love and blessings
