Group GST (Gymnastics Strength Training) classes are running weekly at Wanderlust.

Every Tuesday throughout June, the program is focused on straight-arm strength and core development. We’ll be working through progressions for the Back Lever, Front Lever, Planche, and Toes-to-Bar, while also improving the mobility required to perform these skills efficiently and strengthening the joints that support them.
Each session finishes with a short gymnastics WOD to integrate these elements into conditioning and build practical strength under fatigue.

We also offer a Thursday class, which focuses on bent-arm strength (Muscle-Ups, Handstand Push-Ups, etc.) and lower-body skills such as the Pistol Squat and Sissy Squat.

If you have specific goals or movements you’d like to work on, you’re always welcome to let us know.

Gday Athletes welcome to the pinnacle of our pull up journey.
The kipping pullup is a version of the pull up that we often see performed in a CrossFit workout.
Yes we should prioritize strict before kipping but there is a deliberate reason why we utilize this
type of pull up over its strict counterpart. Whilst kipping we can perform more repetitions in a shorter amount of time thus creating more intensity i.e. power output to the workout. Previously we have discussed the four fundamental pre requisites to achieve this skill with mastery. In order of obtainment they are:

1.⁠ ⁠Grip - Create a strong contact point to the apparatus with overhand gymnastics grip
2.⁠ ⁠isometric base - Build a solid top position with a 60-90sec chin over the bar hollow hang
3.⁠ ⁠Pull up - Be ale to perform at least one perfect strict pullup in hollow showing control.
4.⁠ ⁠Kip swing - Master the kip swing without any break down in shapes, remember “”length is tension and thus power””

Ok so how do we combine these things to perform the kipping pull up?
Here is the movement flow from the top position:

1.⁠ ⁠chin over bar hollow hold
2.⁠ ⁠drop from the bar into hollow
3.⁠ ⁠Perform one dynamic transition from hollow to arc
4.⁠ ⁠As you pull your ribcage down in hollow and torso rises then drive elbows down to elevate your chin over the bar
5.⁠ ⁠You should now have returned to you original chin over bar hollow hold.

As you gain confidence you can eliminate the pause at the top and complete multiple reps in quick succession.
Pro tip is to not press to far away and stay close to the bar. If you need any exaggerated movements and you pull up is not neat and tidy then its never to late to go back and work on the fundamental pre requisites.

Just another day putting in work in paradise! 🌴☀️

If you’re looking for a spot to get your daily sweat in, we’ve pretty much got everything you could ever need. We’re actually the biggest and longest-running gym on the island, so you know the vibes are always good.

Whether you’re prepping for your next race in our massive Hyrox facility (the 25m sled track is an absolute leg-burner, plus we’ve got all the rowers and sandbags you want) or hitting the pads in the fight center, there’s a ton of space to crush your goals.

But honestly, the best part of the day is the post-workout chill. Hit up the recovery center to brave the ice bath, sweat it out in the sauna, soak in the whirlpool bath, or treat yourself to a massage. You can even cool off in the 25m pool before grabbing some food at our cafe and knocking out some emails in the co-working space. 💻☕️
