You were just living your life, feeling relatively ok again. And then, the way someone held their coffee cup, a street you used to walk together, or a face in the crowd made your heart jump and your breath catch in your throat.

It doesn't take much. It never does.

Sometimes the smallest moments can catch us unexpectedly.

Not to undo us.

Not because we’re “back at the beginning.”

But because grief doesn’t move in straight lines, and the people we’ve loved continue to exist in the quiet fabric of ordinary life.

What's been stopping you lately?

In the midst of grief, ritual can become an anchor.

Not to take the pain away, but to offer the body something steady to return to.

A candle lit each evening
A cup of tea made slowly
An offering placed with care
Hands moving through familiar gestures when the world feels untethered.

Ritual reminds us that even in loss, there can still be rhythm, connection, and moments of grounding.

Watching Ibu Ketut Darmi make daily temple offerings is a quiet reminder that ceremony does not need to be elaborate to be sacred.

Sometimes devotion lives in the smallest acts.

Sometimes, for me, self care looks like curling up on the bed with a close friend, a pot of tea, and nowhere else to be.

A small reminder that regulation doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes through rest, connection, safety and being gently witnessed.

Sending love to all of the Mamas today.

Mamas with:

Babes in arms
Children grown
Babies in the womb
Babies in the stars
Aching arms
Tired hearts
Full homes
Empty rooms
Complicated relationships
Quiet grief
Immense joy
Mothers celebrated
Mothers missed
And those learning to mother themselves

Perhaps even all of it at once.

A quiet acknowledgement for the many shapes that motherhood can take. For mothers also navigating grief, matrescence, loss, absence, healing, and becoming - you're not alone here.

And for those of us learning to mother ourselves.

Holding all of it with tenderness today.

It's a grief support group gently facilitated by Samantha Leggett, RN, for those of you who want to mourn well, at your own pace, and with a skilled companion beside you.

When we talk about grief, baby loss is one of the most quietly carried kinds. Because it can feel isolating in ways that are hard to put into words. We might feel judgement, shame or silenced. This can arrive from others, or even ourselves.

This love note is what Dee, one of our recent Professional Development Pregnancy Loss workshop attendees shared after her experience.

If you work alongside women and families navigating pregnancy loss and you'd like to feel more equipped to hold that space with care, read more in our article “What to Say to Someone Bereaved Or Grieving Any Loss” 🤍Check the link in our bio.
