Learning Never Stops at Kolewa!

Due to the fuel shortage this week, the government has introduced a work-from-home policy, while schools have also suspended regular classes.

But our children keep learning! 🥰 Kolewa continues to provide online sign language classes and speech therapy sessions, helping children improve their communication skills and continue their development.

We are proud to see their enthusiasm and determination. Even when circumstances change their spirit to learn never fades!💙

Enjel, Special to Kolewa for 11 Years

Since 2015, Enjel has been part of the Kolewa family. Born with *spina bifida*, Enjel experiences paralysis from the waist down and uses a wheelchair and special AFO footwear.
Despite these challenges, Enjel’s determination to learn has never faded. Today, Enjel is in Grade 5 at a school in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. 📚
Yesterday, we accompanied Enjel to PUSPADI Bali for AFO footwear measurements. After 11 years of walking this journey together, Enjel will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️
Keep going, Enjel! We are proud of you and will always cheer you on toward a brighter future.💙

📢 Awareness Session on Violence Prevention and Protection
Kolewa Foundation would like to thank the GRASA team for conducting an important awareness session on preventing physical and psychological violence against children and women.
The session was attended by patient caregivers, teachers from SLB Sushrusa, and Kolewa Foundation staff.
Together, we learned about how to respond to violence, protect ourselves and children, and prevent bullying by creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for everyone.
Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and protected. 💙

Today, two patients from Labuan Bajo returned home after successfully completing their surgeries. ❤️
At the same time, Kolewa welcomed three new patients: two children from Alor born with cleft lip, and Enjel, a long-time Kolewa patient who was born with spina bifida.

Enjel needs special shoes to support and maintain the proper position of her feet. Every two years, she travels to Bali to receive a new pair designed to support her growth and mobility.

Their journeys may be different, but their hope is the same: to receive the care they need and have a better chance for a brighter future. ❤️

Last weekend, we took some of our Kolewa patients who have been staying with us for more than three months, some even for up to two years for a special day out at the zoo. 🦁🦒

After spending so much time surrounded by medical routines, this was a chance for the children to enjoy a different atmosphere, learn about animals firsthand, and simply have fun. Their smiles said it all. ❤️

Thank you, Vincent, for creating this beautiful moment and helping our children forget, even for a while, about hospitals, treatments, and all things medical. Sometimes, happiness is part of the healing too. 💕

Today was a joyful day for the Kolewa family as we celebrated Kurniawan’s birthday together with his school friends and the Kolewa family.

Kurniawan is one of our staff members and part of our program school project children with hearing problem . For the first time, he celebrated his birthday surrounded by so much love, laughter, and people who care about him. Seeing his happiness made this moment truly special for all of us. 🥰

We also celebrated the birthdays of Heldi, one of our kitchen staff, and one of the mothers staying with her child at our shelter.

At Kolewa, we believe that everyone deserves to feel loved, valued, and celebrated. Because family is not only about blood—it is also about the people who support, care for, and bring happiness to one another. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Kurniawan, Heldi, and Mom of Naymar! May you always be blessed with good health, happiness, and love. 🎉🎂
