❄️ “My eyes water the second I go outside in the cold…”
I hear this all the time.

And no — it doesn’t mean your eyes are “too watery”.

Most of the time, this is actually a dry eye response 👁️

Cold air + wind = tears evaporate faster
Your eyes sense dryness and send an emergency signal
➡️ The tear glands flood the eyes with reflex tears

The problem?
These tears are mostly water.
They don’t contain enough oil to stay on the eye — so they spill over instead of protecting the surface.

That’s why:
• You’re wiping tears
• But your eyes still feel dry, irritated, or stingy

If winter makes your eyes worse, it may be time to look at tear quality, not just tear quantity.

✨ Dry eye is more complex than it looks.
