Getting a knee replacement soon?

Most people spend more time preparing their house for surgery than preparing their body.

The reality is that what you do before your knee replacement can have a huge impact on how you recover afterwards.

Here are my top 3 tips:

✅ Build as much strength as possible before surgery

✅ Work on your knee movement and flexibility

✅ Stay as active as your symptoms allow

The goal isn’t to arrive at surgery as someone who’s been resting for months.

The goal is to arrive in the best shape possible.

A knee replacement isn’t the end of the journey.

It’s the start of the next chapter.

The stronger and fitter you are going in, the better equipped you’ll be coming out.

If you’re waiting for a knee replacement and aren’t sure what you should be doing beforehand, send us a message and we’ll point you in the right direction.

The biggest mistake people make when they’re in pain?

They stop doing everything.

They stop exercising.

They stop walking.

They stop going to the gym.

They stop doing the things they enjoy.

And while that might feel like the right thing to do in the short term, it often creates a bigger problem in the long run.

The less you move…

The weaker you become.

The stiffer you become.

And the harder it becomes to get back to doing the things you love.

Now, that doesn’t mean you should ignore pain and push through it.

It means you need the right plan.

The right advice.

And the right progression.

If you’ve been dealing with pain for longer than 3 months, the goal isn’t usually to stop moving.

The goal is to find the right way to keep moving.

Because for many people, the thing they’re really looking for isn’t just pain relief.

It’s the ability to get back to living their life.

And that’s always the goal.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a Reformer Pilates Instructor, there’s something worth knowing:

Not all instructor courses are created equally.

Many courses do an excellent job teaching anatomy, theory and exercises.

But teaching a class is a completely different skill.

Over the years, we’ve worked with a number of fully qualified instructors who knew the exercises inside out, yet still lacked the confidence to walk into a studio and lead a class independently.

Not because they weren’t capable.

Because they’d never been taught how to teach.

How to structure a class.

How to communicate clearly.

How to cue effectively.

How to create flow.

How to manage a room full of different personalities and abilities.

These are the skills that transform someone from being qualified into being employable and confident.

That’s exactly why we created our Reformer Pilates Instructor Course.

Our goal isn’t simply to give you a certificate.

It’s to help you become the kind of instructor who can confidently walk into a studio and teach a great class.

If you’re looking for more than just a qualification and want to learn the practical coaching skills that great instructors actually use every day, we’d love to hear from you. Click the link in our bio to find out more

Can I just do one class and see if I like it?”

It’s one of the most common questions we get asked.

And honestly, it’s a bit like saying:

“I want to try running, so I’ll go for one run and see if it works.”

Of course it doesn’t work like that.

You don’t get fitter from one run.

You don’t get stronger from one gym session.

And you don’t get the benefits of Pilates from one class.

The people who get the best results aren’t the people who try something once.

They’re the people who stick with it.

Because the goal isn’t to do Pilates.

The goal is to become stronger.

Move better.

Feel better.

Have more energy.

Have less aches and pains.

And those things don’t happen in a single class.

They happen through consistency.

So if you’ve been thinking about starting Pilates, stop asking whether one class will work.

Ask yourself whether you’re ready to commit to feeling better in 3, 6 or 12 months’ time.

Because that’s where the real results are.

Thinking about trying Reformer Pilates but worried you’ll be the worst person in the class?

Good.

Because almost every member in our studio felt exactly the same before they started.

Too stiff.

Too weak.

Too unfit.

Too old.

The reality is that most people walk into their first class feeling a little nervous.

That’s exactly why every member starts with an initial consultation.

It gives us a chance to learn about your goals, discuss any injuries or concerns, and make sure you’re starting in the right class for your ability level.

You don’t need to get fit before starting Pilates.

You start Pilates to become fitter, stronger and more confident.

That’s the whole point.

The hardest part is usually not the class itself.

It’s booking the first one.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started, send us a message and we’d be happy to point you in the right direction.

“I could never teach a Pilates class.”

That’s probably the most common thing I hear from people who are interested in becoming an instructor.

The truth is, confidence isn’t something you start with.

It’s something you build.

Nobody walks into their first class feeling completely comfortable.

Nobody stands in front of a room full of people on day one and thinks:

“I’ve got this all figured out.”

The difference is that some people let that feeling stop them.

Others decide to learn anyway.

That’s exactly why we created our Reformer Pilates Instructor Course.

Not just to teach exercises.

But to help people develop the coaching skills, communication skills and confidence needed to actually teach real classes.

Because becoming a great instructor isn’t about knowing every exercise.

It’s about learning how to lead, coach and connect with people.

And that only comes through practice.

If you’ve ever thought:

“I could never teach a Pilates class.”

You might be exactly the person we’re looking for.

Because some of the best instructors I’ve worked with started with that exact same belief.

DM “PILATES” and we’ll send you all the information about our upcoming Reformer Pilates Instructor Course. 💪

Are you thinking about becoming a Reformer Pilates Instructor?

Most people think becoming a Pilates instructor is about learning exercises.

It’s not.

It’s about learning how to coach people.

How to communicate.

How to lead a room.

How to create a great experience for your clients.

That’s exactly what we focus on in our Reformer Pilates Instructor Course.

Yes, you’ll learn the exercises and theory.

But more importantly, you’ll develop the confidence and practical coaching skills needed to actually teach classes in the real world.

Because being qualified and being confident are two very different things.

If you’d like to learn more about our upcoming Reformer Pilates Instructor Course, send me a message with the word “INSTRUCTOR” or click the link in our bio.

Have you recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia?

One of the biggest things people are often told is:
👉 you need resistance training.

But a lot of people immediately think:
“Does that mean I need to start lifting heavy weights in a gym?”

Not necessarily.

One of the biggest misconceptions about reformer Pilates is that it’s “just stretching.”

At ARC Pilates, our classes combine:

* mobility
* flexibility
* strength work
* and resistance training

We use:

* bodyweight
* reformer spring resistance
* and added resistance like dumbbells

All of which help challenge the muscles and build strength.

And that matters because improving muscle strength and muscle mass can help support overall bone health and bone density.

A lot of people become nervous to exercise after hearing the words:
osteoporosis or osteopenia.

But usually the answer isn’t to stop moving.

The goal is to move well, build strength safely, and keep the body capable long term.

Struggling with Heel Pain?

And no…
rolling your foot on a ball while trying to find something to watch on Netflix probably isn’t fixing it either.

Neither is buying your 14th pair of runners like you’re collecting them for a museum.

Most people bounce between:

* temporary relief
* random stretches
* new shoes
* resting for a few days

…but the pain keeps coming back.

Because the actual problem usually hasn’t changed.

That’s why my top 3 tips are:
✅ stretch the calves
✅ wear proper footwear
✅ stop pretending it’s going to magically disappear on its own

Plantar fasciitis usually improves when the body becomes stronger and better at handling load again.

Not from another quick fix.

Nobody cares about your back pain anymore.

Harsh?

Maybe.

But after weeks… months… sometimes years of saying:
“My back is sore…”

People stop listening.

Not because they’re bad people.

Because pain becomes your normal.

And that’s usually when people realise:
👉 rest isn’t fixing it
👉 stretching randomly isn’t fixing it
👉 another massage isn’t fixing it

At some point, the body needs:
Strength
Movement
Consistency
And an actual plan

Not another temporary quick fix.

That’s exactly why so many people finally start Pilates and rehab in the first place.
