My current studies have taken me into the area of neural plasticity and neurotransmitters in particularly. I know what the 🤯🤯🤯 has that to do with yoga? Ok so neurotransmitters, oxytocin, serotonin and dopamine are part of, not all, of said function.

Yoga and exercise in general can influence these 3 hormones, but not all in the same way or to the same degree. Dopamine for example is involved in motivation, reward, learning, and movement. Serotonin plays a role in mood, emotional regulation, sleep, and appetite. Oxytocin is associated with social bonding, trust, attachment, and stress regulation.

This is part of the reason people often feel a sense of accomplishment, increased motivation, or improved focus after practice.

As you know I often refer to the practice as a mind body workout. So lets promote all these hormones to activate the pleasure centres in the brain ….and eh I think we’ve got our social bonding skills well covered ladies 😉😉 I welcome you all to the Goods Store, Belturbet at 10am tomorrow morning, €10 pay as you go. 🧘‍♀️namaste🧘‍♀️

I feel blessed and fortunate to have siblings, four to be exact. We’re all unique but in our maturity except each other and each individual’s opinion.

The family, however we perceive it, plus the wider community are among the most important foundations of human life. Family is often where we first learn values, trust, responsibility, compassion, and a sense of belonging. We also learn how non judgment is super important as it helps individuals flourish without feeling ridiculed, not to be mistaken for constructive criticism as it is welcomed and is necessary 😉

And of course this is addressed in yogic philosophy, in Patanjali’s Ahimsa (non-harming), the very first Yama. It outlines that ‘Judging others harshly often creates mental or emotional harm. Practicing ahimsa encourages compassion, understanding, and kindness’.

Well it’s a practice I know and like everything we cultivate in life it takes attention and consistency……and eh speaking of which, looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning in the Goods Store at 10am for a mindful practice with our lovely extended yogic family…..practice always starts with a hearty chat and chuckle or two. A very Namaste all! 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

I love how yoga takes into account the energy bodies when considering our physicalness.🤷‍♀️
The psoas muscle hidden deep within the core connects the spine to the legs and plays a vital role in posture, balance, mobility, and our nervous system response. It is often called the “muscle of the soul” (really cool) so beyond movement, this powerful muscle is deeply connected to how we experience stress, safety and emotion.
When we experience fear, overwhelm and stress, the body instinctively contracts. The psoas tightens and over time, if stress never fully releases, this deep core muscle can remain in a state of tension without us even realising it.
A tight or imbalanced psoas may present as:Lower back painTight hipsDigestive discomfortShallow breathingFatigue or anxietyFeeling emotionally “stuck” or constantly on alert.
*Energetically, the psoas is associated with our sense of grounding, survival, and emotional safety. Healing the body isn’t only mental — it’s physical, emotional, and energetic too. 😉
So we’re back in the Goods Store tomorrow (Friday) I have a healing Psoas practice lined up to remind the body what the mind maybe trying to move past. See you on the mat at 10am, namaste 🧘‍♀️

A consistent yoga practice benefits both body and mind and that’s a drum well beaten by moi….but worth repeating. 🤷‍♀️ Over time, and that’s the key along with being consistent, yoga helps increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, improves posture, and enhances balance and coordination and let’s not forget its positive effects on mental and emotional health. Regular movement and stretching can also reduce muscle tension, ease stiffness, and support better circulation and breathing. One of the additional features, and many people repeat this, they experience improved sleep quality and increased energy levels with regular practice.

In the long term, yoga supports healthy aging and encourages, self-awareness, and a stronger mind-body connection. Oops and I can’t overlook natural resistance too as many poses require the body to support its own weight, which strengthens the core, legs, arms, and back.

Our last practise of the week is in the Goods Store Belturbet, Friday morning at 10am. Please feel free to join us as we support our physical and emotional health and experience all the additional yummy benefits! Namaste 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

Brahmacharya is one of the five ethical guidelines in Patanjalis Yoga Sutras. Traditionally, Brahmacharya referred to celibacy… this definitely isn’t a contemplation here or will ever be🤪. However in a broader, more modern sense, it means being mindful about how we use our physical, mental, and emotional energy, even if you’re not a yogis this might be worth a consideration 🤷‍♀️ So, not overindulging in sensory pleasures or distractions….well the odd time is grand 😉
Now I believe in balance so rather than strict abstinence, it’s fair to interpret Brahmacharya currently as:
self-control (spiritual endeavours weren’t supposed to be easy right!)
excess (in my case sweet sh*te.)
energy toward personal growth (I think on some level we’d all agree on this pursuit 🙏🏻)
In short, Brahmacharya is about balance and conserving energy for what truly matters. I’m looking forward to our practice on Friday morning in the Goods Store. A wholistic balance is in the works, so please join us at 10am, see you there!
