Midday thoughts 💭
I really love my little life.
I have a beautiful family and pets.
I have a wonderful home and garden.
I have the most magical “job”.
I never want for anything.
I am so abundant in so many aspects of my life.
And yet, my heart aches for the state of the world.
For the suffering.
For the destruction.
For the people and animals who have no choice but to live through it.
For this beautiful Earth that we are only borrowing from our children.
Sometimes I find it hard to live in my own little bubble when I know there is so much pain happening beyond it.
I can feel guilty for enjoying my life. Guilty for laughing, going for coffee, booking holidays, sitting in my garden, practising yoga, feeling safe and happy when I know that so many others are living a reality so incredibly different. But I’m slowly learning that being grateful for my life doesn’t mean I am indifferent to the suffering of others.
Maybe we are allowed to hold both.
To love our little lives deeply and care deeply about the world around us.
To laugh and cry.
To enjoy and grieve.
To feel safe and still speak up for those who aren’t.
To tend to our own little patch of earth while caring about the whole. I don’t have all the answers, and some days the weight of it all feels overwhelming. But I do know that I don’t want the state of the world to make me forget how beautiful life can be.
So I’ll keep choosing love.
Keep choosing kindness.
Keep raising my little family with compassion.
Keep doing what I can, where I can.
Keep appreciating this beautiful life I’ve been given.
Because perhaps that is part of our responsibility too not to become numb to the world, but to become even more devoted to creating a kinder one.
And today, I’m just feeling incredibly grateful for my little corner of it. 🤍
