Every Wednesday Morning at 11.30 in the Nano Nagle Centre, Carrick on Suir
€12 per class or €60 for 6 classes (6 week block)
Getting straight to the point, the benefits of chair yoga are:
1. Good posture and spinal health, we are "only as young as our spine"
- we don't do yoga because we are
flexible or mobile we do it to so we can become flexible and mobile. And this applies to the whole body not just the spine!
2. Body and mind connection
- learning to move
with our breath and be present as we move through out our class, we can then use this anywhere in our lives.
Practicing this will keep us grounded and can prevent injuries as we are more in tune with the movement of our bodies. Think of it as listening and communicating with our body using breath!
3. Relaxation and Mindfulness
- with gentle
movement and stretching we prepare our mind and body for relaxation at the end of class. Asanas (known as poses) are just a small part of yoga and their goal is to bring 'union' to the body and mind. This is Yoga. This allows us to reap the benefits of meditation and deep rest, keeping us still and present throughout the day.
I could list hundreds of benefits and I haven't even mentioned the more popular benefits like stretching, releasing tension, gentle exercise to build strength physically and mentally and much more!
