Have you ever completely forgotten something… until someone reminds you of it, and suddenly you feel it all over again? 🫶🏼
I was talking to someone the other night, and she shared a story about something really scary that had happened to her family a bit ago.
She told me she'd actually forgotten about it, until someone recently reminded her that it had happened around this time last year.
And it got me thinking… Sometimes not thinking about something anymore is a good thing. Life moves on, and we don't have to keep reliving every difficult experience.
But sometimes, we can put things away in a little box.
And when something reminds us of it, we might notice that familiar stress, emotion or reaction in our body.
This doesn't mean we have to force ourselves to go back and relive everything in order to process.
One of the things I love about the work I do is that emotional work doesn't always have to involve talking through every detail of what happened.
Sometimes, having a safe space to notice what you're feeling, express an emotion, or simply slow down can be meaningful.
And you should never feel pressured to explore something you're not ready for.
You don't have to force yourself to deal with everything before you're ready.
Your wellbeing is about more than just what you eat, how much you exercise, or how productive you are.
If this resonated with you, save this for a reminder that you can be gentle with yourself.
And if you've ever wondered what kinesiology actually involves, my DMs are always open. 🌿
