In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Liver is central to how we move, feel, and function from the flow of Qi and Blood to emotional balance and physical flexibility.

When the Liver system is in harmony, the body feels open, adaptable, and grounded; when itโ€™s constrained, tension often shows up in both mind and body.

This post explores how deeply interconnected emotional health and physical tissue are through a TCM lens.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Liver is seen as one of the bodyโ€™s key regulators of flow, influencing emotions, tension patterns, energy movement, breathing, digestion, and even how we respond to stress.

When the Liver system becomes overwhelmed or stagnant, it can begin affecting other organs throughout the body.

Stress and emotional tension may create chest tightness, shallow breathing, sighing, or the feeling of being unable to fully โ€œbreathe freely.

The Liver and Heart work closely together in TCM to support emotional balance, circulation, sleep, and calming the mind. When out of balance, this may contribute to restlessness, tension, overwhelm, or difficulty switching off.

The Liver influences the smooth flow of digestion and nourishment. Stress can commonly affect the gut, appetite, bloating, and energy levels.

Together they support vitality, resilience, nervous system regulation, and long-term energy reserves. Chronic stress may gradually leave the body feeling depleted and exhausted.

The body is deeply interconnected.

Often emotional stress doesnโ€™t only affect the mind โ€” it settles into the breath, muscles, fascia, digestion, and nervous system.

Gentle Release Therapy works with the body through calming touch inspired by TCM principles to support relaxation, release tension patterns, and restore a greater sense of ease.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), stress is something the whole body...

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), stress is something the whole body responds to.
In TCM, the Liver is associated with the smooth flow of Qi, emotional balance, flexibility, and the health of the tendons, ligaments, fascia, and connective tissues.

When life becomes busy, overwhelming, or emotionally heavy, this flow can become restricted.

This is often described as Liver Qi stagnation.

It doesnโ€™t mean anything is โ€œwrongโ€ with you. It simply reflects how the body adapts under pressure.

You might notice this as:
โ€ข tight shoulders or neck
โ€ข jaw clenching or facial tension
โ€ข shallow breathing
โ€ข rib or chest tightness
โ€ข irritability or feeling โ€œon edgeโ€
โ€ข emotional overwhelm or feeling stuck
โ€ข headaches or tension patterns

Over time, the body can begin to hold these patterns automatically, even when the original stress has passed.

From a therapeutic perspective, this tension is not random.

It is often the bodyโ€™s way of:
โ— protecting itself
โ— managing emotional load
โ— staying โ€œin controlโ€ under stress

But when the body stays in this state for too long, it can feel like:
โ— constant tightness
โ— fatigue that doesnโ€™t fully lift
โ— difficulty relaxing deeply
โ— feeling disconnected from ease

Gentle Release Therapy is a gentle touch Body Therapy inspired by principles found in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In this treatment we work with the organs, including the Liver, and their connected meridan pathways.

Rather than working through force, we focuses on helping the nervous system recognise safety again.

This allows the body to gradually:
โ— soften protective holding patterns
โ— release accumulated tension
โ— improve breath and physical ease
โ— support emotional regulation
โ— restore a sense of flow and balance

Many clients describe feeling lighter, calmer, and more โ€œunwoundโ€ after treatment.

You may benefit from this type of work if you:
โ— feel physically tense even when resting
โ— carry stress in your jaw, neck, or shoulders
โ— struggle to fully switch off
โ— feel emotionally overloaded or โ€œstuckโ€
โ— want a gentler approach to stress and regulation

๐Ÿ“Treatments are available in a calm, supportive space designed to help the body unwind at its own pace.

If youโ€™d like, you can message me to ask questions or see if this work would be a good fit for you.

Warmly,
Claire

Over the years, both through working in the skincare industry and personal experience, Iโ€™ve seen how important early skin checks can be.

Many of us grew up without the awareness around sun protection that we have today, which is why I felt called to write this blog on skin health awareness, when to seek medical advice, and the importance of getting skin concerns checked early.

My hope is simply to encourage awareness without fear.

You can read the full blog on my website link below:

Maybe itโ€™s my 30 years of experience and training within the skincare industry, or maybe itโ€™s simply growing up in a time when we didnโ€™t have the same level of skin protection or awareness around sun damage.

This morning I started my day embracing my natural unruly nest of waves alongside some tinted moisturiser (SPF 50 included ๐Ÿ˜‰)

I met my friend for a coffee where she asked what I was doing with my hairโ€ฆ as she proceeded to remove leaves from it.
Wellโ€ฆ I do hang out with the trees sometimes ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

And honestly, the older I get, the more Iโ€™m embracing beauty in softness, simplicity and being human.

Which is interesting when you work in the skin and beauty space, because people often assume itโ€™s all about perfection, fixing, correcting and chasing the next thing.

Yes, I absolutely love skincare.
I love the science behind the skin, the education, the electrotherapy devices, understanding how the skin functions and how we can truly support it.

But the deeper I go into this work, the more I realise real skin health is never just about the surface.

Itโ€™s also about the nervous system.
The mind.
The body.
The emotions we hold.
The stress we carry.
The way someone feels when they walk into a space and whether they feel safe enough to soften.

Sometimes the most powerful part of a
treatment isnโ€™t even the device or the productโ€ฆ..
itโ€™s being seen.
Being listened to.
Being held in a moment where you can finally exhale.

Thatโ€™s the part of the facial therapy space I care deeply about creating.

A place where science and soul coexist.
Where advanced treatments meet intuition and intentional touch.
Where we support not only the skin, but the person living within it.

Because the skin is always listening.

And when we begin supporting ourselves beneath the surface, something shifts
you brighten differently.
Not just externally, but energetically too.

Craniosacral Therapy is not only about what happens during the treatment session.

The changes often continue long after you leave the treatment room.

When the nervous system feels safe and supported, the Body can begin to move into what is often called โ€œrest & digestโ€ or โ€œrest & recoveryโ€ mode. From this calmer space, the body has an opportunity to rebalance, restore and process in its own way.

During a session, the body may communicate through subtle signs such a deep sigh, a yawn, swallowing, gurgling sounds, feelings, sensations, or simply a deep sense of stillness. Sometimes these changes are obvious, sometimes they are so subtle you may hardly notice them, yet the effects can still be profound.

One of the most important parts of the process is integration.

Integration is what happens after the session, when the shifts that began during treatment continue to settle into your nervous system, body and daily life. It is the gentle unfolding that happens in your own time. You may notice more clarity, more calm, better sleep, ease of aches and pains, more mobility, emotional balance, or a stronger sense of inner resilience.

From that supported place, other changes can also happen naturally.

Sometimes it is finally having the
conversation you needed to have.
Sometimes it is setting boundaries.
Sometimes it is moving towards what
nourishes you and away from what drains you.
Sometimes it is simply having the inner
steadiness to move through lifeโ€™s challenges differently.

And sometimes, no big external changes are needed at all.

Sometimes the greatest shift is the quietening of the inner critic or the constant โ€œmonkey chatter,โ€ allowing your own inner wisdom to be heard more clearly.

Craniosacral Therapy is not about forcing answers or fixing. It is about allowing space for insight, regulation and change to emerge in their own time.

Never underestimate the role you play in your own wellbeing journey.
Nobody knows your body, your experiences or your inner world better than you.

Your body holds onto stress in physical ways

Tight shoulders
Jaw tension
Shallow breathing
Difficulty fully relaxing

These are not problems.
Theyโ€™re signals.

Gentle ways your body communicates that it may be carrying too much for too long.

So often, we try to push through, ignore the tension, or disconnect from what the body is asking for.

But when we slow down and begin to
listenโ€ฆ
the body can soften.
Breathing can deepen.
Balance can begin to restore.

Through gentle Facial and Body Therapies, your nervous system is supported to slow down, release tension, and reconnect with a greater sense of ease.

A quiet space to soften, restore, and come back to yourself.
