Our bodies are wired for protection. Whenever we experience physical injury, emotional stress, overwhelm, or even prolonged periods of pressure, the nervous system can respond by creating protective patterns of tension. Muscles tighten, breathing becomes shallower, and the body prepares to cope with what it perceives as a threat.

While these responses are designed to keep us safe, sometimes the body doesn't fully let go when the stressful event has passed. Tension can become a habitual holding pattern, affecting posture, movement, comfort, and overall wellbeing.

CranioSacral Therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive approach that supports the body's natural ability to unwind. Through light-touch techniques, it works with the body's connective tissue (fascia) and nervous system, creating the conditions for deep relaxation and self-regulation.

As the nervous system shifts from a state of vigilance and survival toward rest, recovery, and repair, many people experience a sense of release, ease, and reconnection with their bodies, allowing long-held patterns of tension to soften and unwind naturally.

A few recent reviews, Im always so grateful for.
Things I'm also grateful for: having such a beautiful, tranquil space to work from; the opportunities I've been given to learn and grow in the very field that I support others in; and my constant awe of our amazing bodies' ability to heal and rebalance themselves.

I'm grateful, too, for us as human beings. For our nurturing nature, our capacity to heal, grow, and love. In a world where the noise of fear, hatred, judgment, and righteousness can sometimes feel very loud, I'm continually reminded of the quiet strength of kindness and connection.

The Stomach meridian is one of the longest pathways in TCM, travelling from the face down through the neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, legs, and feet.

Because of this extensive connection, stress and tension affecting the Stomach system may be reflected throughout the body, not only in digestion, but also in areas such as the jaw, face, neck, abdomen, hips, and legs.

Many people are surprised to learn that emotional stress and digestive imbalances can contribute to patterns of tension, clenching, tightness, and discomfort in seemingly unrelated areas of the body.

The Stomach meridian also has a strong presence in the face, making it particularly relevant in facial therapies where stress may be held in the jaw, facial muscles, and connective tissues.

๐ŸŒฑ Gentle Release Therapy supports the body through calming touch inspired by TCM principles, helping to soften tension patterns, encourage relaxation, and restore a greater sense of balance and flow throughout the body.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Stomach is connected to much more than digestion. It is also closely linked with how we process stress, emotions, experiences, and the constant demands of daily life.

When we become overwhelmed, worried, or stuck in cycles of overthinking, it can affect both our digestion and emotional wellbeing. Many people notice stress showing up as digestive discomfort, abdominal tension, mental fatigue, or a feeling of being unable to switch off.

TCM recognises the deep connection between the body and emotions, understanding that how we "digest" life can be just as important as how we digest food.

Gentle Release Therapy supports the body through calming touch inspired by TCM principles, helping to ease tension, settle the nervous system, and restore a greater sense of balance, grounding, and emotional wellbeing.

In TCM, the Stomach does not work alone.

It works closely with other organ systems to support digestion, energy production, emotional wellbeing, sleep, breathing, and overall vitality.

When stress affects the body, these relationships can become disrupted, contributing to symptoms such as bloating, fatigue, worry, poor sleep, chest tension, digestive discomfort, and emotional overwhelm.

TCM views the body as an interconnected system, where physical and emotional health influence one another.

The Stomach in TCM is about much more than digestion.

It plays a vital role in receiving nourishment, producing Qi and Blood, and supporting the body's energy, vitality, and overall wellbeing.

When Stomach function is balanced, we tend to feel nourished, energised, clear-headed, and grounded. When it becomes disrupted, it may contribute to digestive discomfort, fatigue, brain fog, poor concentration, and a feeling of being physically or emotionally depleted.

In TCM, the Stomach's energy is naturally meant to move downward. Stress, worry, and overwhelm can sometimes interfere with this process, contributing to symptoms such as reflux, nausea, bloating, or a sense of fullness.

The health of the Stomach affects far more than digestion aloneโ€”it influences our energy, resilience, mental clarity, and ability to feel supported and nourished in daily life.

๐ŸŒฑ Gentle Release Therapy supports the Stomach system through calming touch inspired by TCM principles, helping to ease tension, regulate the nervous system, and encourage a greater sense of balance, grounding, and wellbeing.

The Liver meridian in TCM is associated with the smooth flow of energy, emotions, movement, and tension throughout the body.

This pathway travels from the feet upward through the inner legs, pelvis, abdomen, rib cage, chest, and throat, connecting deeply with areas many people commonly hold stress physically and emotionally.

When emotional stress remains unresolved, the body often adapts by creating protective holding patterns.

This may show up as:
โ€ข jaw clenching
โ€ข shallow breathing
โ€ข rib or chest tightness
โ€ข hip restriction
โ€ข pelvic holding
โ€ข tight hamstrings
โ€ข throat tension
โ€ข nervous system overwhelm

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is often described as Liver Qi stagnation, where emotional and energetic flow becomes restricted.

Gentle Release Therapy works with the body through calm, supportive touch inspired by TCM principles, helping the nervous system soften protective tension patterns and restore a greater sense of ease physically, emotionally, and energetically.

The body and emotions are deeply connected, and often what we carry emotionally is reflected physically within the body.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Liver is central to how we move, feel, and function from the flow of Qi and Blood to emotional balance and physical flexibility.

When the Liver system is in harmony, the body feels open, adaptable, and grounded; when itโ€™s constrained, tension often shows up in both mind and body.

This post explores how deeply interconnected emotional health and physical tissue are through a TCM lens.
