A very special announcement 💛
On United Nations International Day of Older Persons, we are incredibly proud and honoured to announce that President of Ireland Catherine Connolly has become Patron of Friends of the Elderly Ireland.
“It is a privilege to be asked to serve as Patron of Friends of the Elderly Ireland. For nearly 50 years, Friends of the Elderly have, through their nationwide network of volunteers, demonstrated the importance of positive ageing, the difference that friendship can make in all of our lives, and the vital contribution which older people continue to make to society throughout every year of their lives.”
For our members, this is a very special recognition. It sends a powerful message that older people matter, that their voices and experiences matter, and that they should remain visible, connected and valued at every stage of life.
For 46 years, friendship has been at the heart of Friends of the Elderly. We see every day the difference that having someone to talk to, somewhere to go and people who genuinely care can make.
We are delighted to welcome President Connolly into the Friends of the Elderly family and look forward to this very special new chapter in our story.
