🕯️ Ireland may have done something no one wants to admit… it may have hidden a pagan goddess inside a Christian saint.
Long before Christianity arrived, Brigid was already one of the most important figures in Ireland.
She was the goddess of healing, poetry, fertility, and sacred fire.
Then suddenly, a Christian saint appears with the exact same name.
The same feast day.
The same sacred fire.
The same connection to livestock and miracles.
Some scholars believe Saint Brigid of Kildare was a real woman.
Others argue the Church simply rebranded a beloved goddess to make conversion easier for pagan Ireland.
Not destroyed.
Just renamed.
And that changes everything about how we view early Irish Christianity.
So what do you think…
Was Saint Brigid a real Christian saint, or was Ireland’s old goddess quietly given a nun’s habit and allowed to survive?
