Apparently, being a yoga teacher comes with a whole list of assumptions...😂
That I'm always calm, endlessly positive, never swear, eat perfectly, meditate like a saint and float through life in a permanent state of inner peace.
Well… the photos might suggest otherwise! 🙈😂
But there's a little more to this post than having a laugh at myself. I think we often make assumptions about people based on how they express the things they're passionate about. And sometimes, without even realising it, we put those same expectations on ourselves.
As though loving something means we have to embody every aspect of it, all of the time.
But I don't think passion works like that. I've loved and taught yoga for over 20 years. It's woven into so much of who I am, how I move, how I think and how I navigate life.
But I bring myself to yoga, too. My humour, my emotions, my curiosity, my messy days, my love of lifting weights... Maybe not the Murphy's 😂
It's not about becoming the perfect picture of a yoga teacher. It's about allowing something you love to become part of your life without losing all the other wonderful, ridiculous, beautifully human parts of yourself.
Yoga is part of who I am. But it's not all that I am. ❤️
