Cervical Screening Awareness Week
This week is Cervical Screening Awareness Week, an important reminder of how regular screening can help protect your health.
In Ireland, free cervical screening is available through CervicalCheck for women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 65. If you’re aged 25–29, you’ll usually be invited every 3 years, and from age 30–65 every 5 years.
Screening can help detect changes early, often before symptoms appear, making it one of the most effective tools we have in preventing cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when abnormalities are detected early. Yet many people put off attending appointments due to busy lives, anxiety, embarrassment, or simply forgetting. If you’re due your screening, this week is a great opportunity to make it a priority. It is estimated to prevent 3 out of every 4 cases of cervical cancer.
A simple appointment could make a life-changing difference.
