Sona Mindfulness Teaching Mindfulness and self kindness practices to children and teenagers in fun and creative ways.

My name is Michelle Reilly and I'm an IMMA accredited Creative Mindfulness Practitioner for children and teenagers. I also have a BA in Social Care and have worked with children, teens and their families for over 25 years. I'm extremely passionate about promoting children's positive mental health and well-being. Teaching them Mindfulness and Self Kindness practices that will support them in their daily lives.

You are unique and special - just like a diamond. 💎

My heart is completely full after yesterday's creative mindfulness session with my Anxiety group in HSE 💖✨

Our incredible group explored what it truly means to be a good friend to ourselves. We learned a beautiful lesson: we are all like diamonds, each completely unique, strong, and valuable just because of who we are and our inherent worth. 💎

We learned that when anxiety visits us it can feel very tricky at times and doing our mindfulness practices can feel like a soothing hug to our hearts🤗

To quieten the loud voice of anxiety, we practiced using a kind inner voice, filling the room with powerful affirmations:
✨ "I am strong, I am brave. I am unstoppable."
✨ "I am important. I am lucky , I am kind, I am grateful, I am creative."

To carry this magic home, they created tangible reminders of their strength: custom wooden bookmarks, affirmation scratch cards, and a handout naming exactly why they are amazing.

We also had our beautiful diamond rhyming handout from Aoife@yourjoyfulself to colour at home this week to help with our practice.

So incredibly proud of them all. It is so lovely to see them walking a little taller and shining a little brighter 🌟

Creative Mindfulness in action! ✨

​Over the last two weeks, our group got busy bringing their inner worlds to life by making their own monkey minds and drawing their very own emotion characters. It was such a powerful way to visualize those "messengers" that visit our minds, bodies and hearts.

​By sharing their drawings, the children discovered something so important, we all feel the same emotions. Whether it’s joy, worry, or sadness, we aren't alone in our feelings ❤️

​However, we also learned that even if we feel the same emotions, our body sensations might feel totally different. While one person feels "worry" as a fluttery tummy, another might feel it as tight shoulders or wiggly toes.

​Teaching children to recognize their unique physical cues helps them get to know themselves better and they are learning how to help themselves navigate these sensations and emotions with kindness💝

​So proud of their creativity and their growing self-awareness!

A heart full of gratitude for the wonderful ladies who joined us yesterday for our Mindfulness & Self-Compassion retreat in Ennis. ✨
It was so moving to see everyone take time out of their busy lives to rest, be nourished, and connect to each other, to the present moment, and to themselves💗

Together, we explored the power of mindfulness using our breath, our senses, and gentle mindful movement to ground us.

Through creativity, music, and poetry, we practiced cultivating a kind inner voice learning how to treat ourselves like we would a dear friend and offering ourselves the same care, compassion and gratitude we so freely give to others. We even made time to mindfully enjoy some delicious chocolate.

We ended the afternoon with a long, restorative body scan meditation, leaving the busyness of the world behind to simply "be." Watching these ladies take the time to learn ways to help quieten their busy minds and to come home to themselves was just so lovely💝

I would also like to say a special thank you to my friend and fellow mindfulness teacher, Breda -mindfulnesswithBreda, It was such a pleasure and a joy to share this special afternoon and the wonderful teachings from with you again💞

✨️ Mindfulness in action in Ennis✨️

I had the most beautiful day yesterday visiting the Holy FamilyJunior School in Ennis Holy Family Junior and Senior Schools Ennis

I was joined by 65 wonderful children from first class and the AS class for an introduction to the world of mindfulness based on the Louise Shanagher Creative Mindfulness Kids Training

Together, we dived into mindfulness in action focusing on how we can use our breath and senses to calm our busy minds and relax our bodies. 🌿

Through focusing, noticing, touching, and feeling the children fully experienced the present moment. From exploring sound instruments and visual toys to crafting their own breathing tools to take home, it was all about experiencing mindfulness firsthand! 🎨🎶

We even shared some cozy teddy cuddles while learning how the anchor of our breath can always bring us back to the here and now.
Such a wonderful day of connection, learning and calm. 🌬️💛 Thank you to all the teachers and children I met, it was a pleasure to spend time with you all.

Mindfulness is a superpower🌟

My heart is so full after a beautiful 2 days this week at Holy Family Junior and Senior Schools Ennis ✨

I had the absolute joy of spending time with over a hundred Junior and Senior Infants, introducing them to the magic of mindfulness.

Teaching mindfulness at this age is so special—it’s about helping them find their inner anchor, giving them a superpower to stay grounded no matter how "stormy" their big emotions might feel. ⚓️🧘‍♂️

The children were so busy being creative, we made Breathing Wands to catch our breath and Sensory Critters to remind us to practice our mindfulness at home.

We explored all our senses, focusing on sight and touch with our visual toys and weighted teddies.
Seeing the children give the teddies giant hugs was definitely a highlight of my week🧸❤️

Eight sessions later, and my heart is overflowing. A huge thank you to the teachers and most importantly, to the wonderful children who made this week such a pleasure💝
