It's not every day you see an alpaca!

Our resident, Kieran has been taking regular overnight trips as part of his rehabilitation journey. His most recent trip was very exciting. Supported by team members, Pauline and Ravin, Kieran enjoyed an overnight stay in Roscommon, where he visited . A great time was had by all! Kieran is now in the process of planning his next trip because in the words of Kieran, " life is for living".

We love sharing photos and updates from our services across Ireland and today, we have a special update from our Waterford team. Meet our community service user, Pat. After his brain injury, one of Pat's goals was to make planters for his garden at home. With the support of his Community Rehabilitation Assistant, Tracy, Pat not only created these fantastic planters, but also built a wonderful bird table.

Now, Pat can enjoy growing flowers in his garden and feeding and watching the many different birds that visit. This has been a very rewarding and enjoyable project, supporting both creativity and rehabilitation through meaningful activity.

A huge thank you to Conor Peat who took part in the and raised more than €10,000 in support of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland. Conor took on this challenge in memory of his brother Oisín, who sadly passed away last year. Oisín was a passionate runner who completed many races and marathons, making this a truly fitting tribute.

The funds raised will support our Mobhi Road Assisted Living service, which was Oisín’s home. At our recent 'Bake for Brain Injury' event in Mobhi Road, we were delighted to welcome Oisín’s family to visit his housemates and the team who cared so deeply for him.

Conor’s incredible fundraising will make a real difference to the lives of those living at Mobhi Road and we are so grateful that he chose to support Acquired Brain Injury Ireland in Oisín’s memory.

We are delighted to share some highlights from 'The Artful Brain & Acquired Brain Injury', which took place in the LexIcon Library, Dún Laoghaire yesterday. Speakers included Grainne McGettrick (Director of Research and Policy), Natasha Sinnott (Wexford/Waterford Community/Case Manager) and Rachel Fitzpatrick (artist). As part of the event, artists and brain injury survivors, Denise Lawler and Paul O'Brien spoke about their lived experience of brain injury and shared some of their artwork. There was also an interactive activity, asking attendees to get creative and it was clear there were some very talented artists in the room.

Another successful year for our fundraiser! Our Clubhouse is one of our many services across Ireland that organised wonderful bake sales throughout March and April. They had a fantastic turnout and we are delighted to see some photos from the day in the Irish Independent. We are so grateful to our Wexford locals for supporting our Clubhouse. We would also like to thank long-time friend and supporter, Paul McGrath, who has shown us incredible support over the many years.

Our Director of Research and Policy, Grainne McGettrick was delighted to attend the recent Brain Injury Matters 'Re-framing 6' installation in Belfast. Lead by artist, Rachel Fitzpatrick, this installation was co-created with brain injury survivors from Brain Injury Matters Northern Ireland (NI) as part of 'Belonging, NI's Mental Health Week. Made from 1000s of origami paper brains, 'Re-framing 6' depicts how brain injury forces the person to reframe their lives and re-imagine their future. We are amazed by what was created.

'Re-framing 6' follows on from the all-island project 'Re-Framing', which we collaborated on with Brain Injury Matters NI for Creative Brain Week 2025.
