This is why Osteopenia should not be considered "a touch of bone loss".

A presentation on many aspects of this silent disease will be given by the only person in ireland who has singlehandedly run the National Osteoporosis helpline for 26 years.

The only Osteoporosis consultant in Ireland will be participating in the Q & A session.

Anyone at any age with one ir more risk factors for bone loss should request a DXA scan in order to help prevent broken bones.

Did you know that calcium and vitamin D supplements ARE NOT TREATMENTS for bone loss?

Do you find it difficult to get answers to your queries regarding bone health?

Did you know that the Irish Osteoporosis Society Charity who are the National experts in Osteopenia and Osteoporosis DO NOT RECOMMEND PEOPLE WITH BONE LOSS DO YOGA OR FOLLOW THE LIFTMOR WEIGHT LIFTING PROGRAM?

Are you buying supplements from people claiming to be bone loss experts?

Why not get correct, up to date information from the National Irish experts in Osteopenia and Osteoporosis.

The Irish Osteoporosis Society Charity unfortunately spends a lot of time correcting misinformation given out by others.

We are holding an awareness event on Saturday 30th May 2026 in Kilmacud GAA Hall, Stillorgan, co Dublin. For more information check out our website or previous posts.

The event is free for charity members to attend. A donation of €50 to the charity entitles a person to a 12 month membership, whilst helping to support a charity that does not recieve government funding.

The main benefit from becoming a charity member is being able to book a 30 minute over the phone appointment to discuss their bone health with the only person in ireland who has run the national Osteoporosis helpline.

A donation of €35 is required for non charity members to attend the Kilmacud event, which the donations go towards the running of the charity.

The National experts in Osteopenia and Osteoporosis, the Irish Osteoporosis Society Charity will be running an informational event, including a presentation on what you need to know about Osteopenia and Osteoporosis.

Example:

Did you know that a calcium and vitamin D supplement is not an Osteoporosis treatment?

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with Professor Moira O'Brien, Osteoporosis consultant and Michele O’Brien, CEO of the Irish Osteoporosis Society.

When:Saturday 30th May 2026

Where: kilmacud crokes (Glenalbyn) GAA club, Stillorgan, CO. Dublin

Time: 10.45 to 1pm

A raffle will be held to raise funds for the charity as they do not recieve government funding.

This is an opportunity to hear from the National experts, regarding bone health and what exercises those with bone loss should not be doing by Mr Aidan Woods.

Professor Moira O'Brien, an Osteoporosis consultant, will be involved in the questions and answer session.
