Sonas Sounds Immersive Sound Creations

Sound baths, experimental sound installations & Sound massage therapy

Pl Currently practicing in Dublin, Ireland.

Carefully crafted, immersive experiences created through the medium of sound. Offering group sound baths and immersive sound installations, creating a journey like no other, where the sound and vibration can have a deeply profound effect. Across cultures and time sound has been used in ceremony and celebration, and is a powerful tool that resonates within each individual in a unique way. Drawing o

n ancient practices and modern research into the effects of sound and vibration, we create unique and poignant immersive sonic experiences. We also offer individual "sound massage"; a deeply relaxing holistic therapy, for body and mind. Using specialised therapy bowls placed directly onto the fully-clothed body and played using felt mallets, the combined sound and vibration induce a deep sense of meditative relaxation which helps to calm the mind and body. The bowls are strategically placed around the body, working through the meridian points, sending vibration through the body and creating a flow of sounds and energy which encourages harmonisation and deep relaxation. Before a baby arrives, there is a threshold to pause at.

Through sound, scent, symbolism, poetry and blessings, I create bespoke calming, multisensory experiences to support this transition.

As with all of my work, the smallest of details are given careful consideration so that the sacredness of the moment is honoured.

For this particular ceremony, the power and beauty of the mother was central, as was the support structure of partner, family and friends, and of course, the connection with the baby.

Supporting people in honouring such pivotal moments in time is a privaledge and it gives me a great sense of gratitude and joy.

I also offer individual pregnancy sound massage, during 2nd & 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

People often think sound baths are passive or purely restorative, but for me they're so much more… if you are willing, they can be a doorway into the psyche, into creative flow, and overall personal growth.

These images and clips come from a piece I created while exploring altered states of consciousness, and the connections between meditation, dreaming, and the creative "flow" state.

I am fascinated by what emerges when we drop into those spaces, and how that material can be both deeply insightful into our own inner world, and can also be tapped into for creative expression.

The piece came through my own practice of listening deeply during alerted states through sound, passing attention to the mental imagery and thoughts I had, and from collating other people's experiences too, until this coherent (but maybe a bit abstract!) narrative began to form.

Looking back, this work marked a turning point. It showed me that the parts of my life I had thought of as separate were actually connecting.

Now my work lives at that intersection of sound, meditation, creativity, and facilitation. It's my aim to create experiences through which others can tap into the same practice of listening deeply to their inner world, and to anything that might like to be expressed creatively.

My next deep listening and creative response workshop will be in IMMA on Saturday August 8th, with a few spots remaining for any curious people out there. No prior experience necessary, of sound/mediation or creative practice. Open to everyone ❤️

Had a really great day facilitating Deep Listening, at the Irish Museum of Modern Art — part of the Horizons programme alongside Tarek Atoui’s exhibition, Sunflowers.
Sunflowers explores reciprocity of experience between artist, instrument and audience. This resonates deeply with me, as I often say to participants of my sound journeys that we are all in an exchange, the sound is influenced by the presence of each individual in the space, each body a "resonating chamber" that the gongs sing back to.
Atoui’s work is also intended to inspire new channels of imagination, which we later explored through mindful mark making.
Another interesting synchronicity was the Korean drumming influences in Sunflowers - I lived in Seoul, many moons ago, where I first came across Korean drums and gongs , and so began my journey with sound.
Thank you to IMMA and everyone who listened and participate with their whole selves.
I'll be back collaborating with IMMA again later this summer... watch this space.

The prayer tree at Teltown House, in Meath, the site for Assembly, Breath, Resonance on June 14th. This event will run as part of the Take me to the River series, by The Solstice Arts Centre. We'll walk the land, learn about the ancient history of the site, connect through deep listening, and tune in to the local ecology. It's a beautiful, ancient place, alive with enchanting stories of the past and vibrant energy. I'm really looking forward to this special event. ☀️

At the heart of my work is the act of listening... I believe that something in us shifts when we listen deeply. Whether that is listening to curated sound, to music, to our environment, to each other, or even to ourselves.
Listening is a practice, an art. When we forget how to listen we lose so much.
I hope you have an opportunity to practice listening today, whether to someone else, to the wind, or maybe to something inside that needs you to listen. ❤️

Huge thanks to the Solstice Arts Centre for inviting me to facilitate "Beyond Words: mindful mark making" - a deep listening sound and explorative drawing workshop, designed to engage and respond to the Tracing Echoes exhibition by Mark Francis. His collection of Visual Music works are striking, unique and incredibly resonant.
Thanks to everyone that came and explored together.
If you have a bit of free time, I highly recommend a trip to Navan to see this unique exhibition.

Sound to Symbol, a multi-sensory workshop, where sound meets mindful processing through creative practice. All welcome, no experience of sound baths or an artistic/creative practice necessary. This is purely about exploration and expression, beyond words, for deeper processing and integration.
