Drying room starting to fill with early pickings. Comfrey and nettle taking up most of the space this week. The comfrey will be infused in oil for the salves that are so in demand for breaks and sprains. Nettle dried for tea and next week I plan to gather more to make some fresh tincture. I need litres of it for the year ahead. Good tp be back into the rythm of Spring and early summer.

Pasque flower is a beautiful plant that has a traditional use for painful spasmodic conditions, such as severe period cramps. The root is used when dried as this reduces the toxicity of some of the constiuents when fresh. A plant to be used with caution. I enjoy it's lovely colour, its velvety texture. One of the early spring flowers it's a welcome sight.

Another 'indoor' day due to the poor weather conditions. Good opportunity to make many batches of herbal capsules. Capsules are light easy to take and handy for travel. The powdered herb in this photo is Milk thistle, one of the great herbs for liver related problems. I also made a batch of Shatavari, a key herb from the Ayurvedic tradition to support women during menopause and for other reproductive problems. Once you got all the stuff out, you may as well go for broke.
