The theme of the next EU SLT Day will be:

“Protecting communication as we age”

EU SLT Day 2027 will be celebrated in Copenhagen.
With an ageing population across Europe, it is increasingly important to raise awareness of the role of speech and language therapists in supporting communication across the lifespan, as well as the need for timely access to appropriate assessment, intervention and support.
More information about EU SLT Day 2027, including the programme and activities in Copenhagen, will follow over the coming months.

In this episode, we sit down with Maggie Garvey, Clinical Specialist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, to discuss Ireland’s first National Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) service.

DBS is an advanced surgical procedure designed to help manage movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and essential tremor. Based at the Mater Hospital in Dublin, this specialist service features an expert multidisciplinary team (MDT) made up of Neurologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Speech and Language Therapists, Neuropsychologists, and Physiotherapists.
