Parkinson's Ireland is partnering with the Dublin Neurological Institute to run a PD Census in the coming months.

The census will build on the 2017 survey completed by over 1,000 people with Parkinson's disease nationwide. More information will be made available in due course.

Parkinson's Ireland has contributed €5,000 towards the project.

We are delighted that once again the Move4Parkinson’s, Balally Voices of Hope Choir will be singing in People’s Park on Sunday, 2nd August from 12.00pm.

After such a successful session in June, we are thrilled to have another opportunity to perform. We are hoping that once again the weather is on our side and the sun is out!

Some interesting stuff on use of assisting devices at home.. needs change over time as we know from our work..

Parkinson's Ireland is proud to share the findings of a new study from the University of Galway exploring the factors that influence the use of household assistive devices to support daily living for people with Parkinson's in Ireland.

We are especially proud that members of Parkinson's Ireland contributed directly to this research by volunteering to take part in the study. Their lived experiences have helped provide valuable insights into the barriers and supports that influence the use of assistive devices in everyday life.

The research highlights the importance of person centred care, ongoing support and follow up, accessible services, and involving people with Parkinson's in decisions about the devices they use. It also reinforces the need for assistive devices that are practical, adaptable, and designed with the user in mind.

A sincere thank you to researcher Shaunadh Ní Chlochartaigh, supervisor Dr Jackie Fox, the University of Galway, and everyone who took part in this important study. Together, this research will help inform future practice and improve support for people living with Parkinson's.
