🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Carriglea Athletes Take on Triathlon Challenge! 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏊‍♂️

A huge well done to our 8 incredible Carriglea athletes who recently completed their first Adaptability Triathlon, marking the fantastic finale of a six‑week Triathlon Ireland training programme here on campus 👏

With the support of certified coaches, the group trained hard each week—building skills in swimming, cycling (including trikes), transitions, and running. All that dedication paid off on race day in Waterford, where the athletes tackled each stage with confidence and determination.

From the swim in Kingfisher Pool, to the run on the RSC track, and finishing with the cycle, every athlete gave it their all—achieving an amazing 100% completion rate 💪✨

This is a truly historic achievement and a brilliant example of what can be accomplished through teamwork, commitment, and support.

👏 A big thank you to all the staff and coaches who supported the athletes every step of the way.

We are so proud of each and every one of you — what an incredible milestone! 🌟

A huge thank you to Lady Captain Carmel Fox, Pat Phelan, the Thursday Night Card players, and everyone involved in raising an amazing €2,800 for the Carriglea Cáirde Services' Athletes Fund.

This support means so much to our athletes as they prepare to represent Munster at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Dublin this June 🏅

Best of luck to all the athletes — what a fantastic achievement and opportunity. We are very proud of you all 👏💫

We were thrilled to welcome some of the wonderful local athletes who will be representing Munster at the Special Olympics Summer Games taking place in Dublin from 18th - 21st June.

Pictured with the athletes is Lady Captain Carmel Fox presenting a cheque for €2,800 to Nicola Moroney from Carriglea Cairde Services in support of the Athletes Fund for the Special Olympics summer games.

The money was raised at a fundraising night held by our Thursday Night Card players, also pictured is Pat Phelan fundraiser organiser.

We wish all the athletes the very best of luck in their endeavours. Enjoy the amazing experience ✨️

🐾🌟 Final Job Shadow Visit – CSPCA, Mahon 🌟🐾

Our final Job Shadow event took place last Friday, with the group visiting the CSPCA – Cork Animal Rescue Shelter in Mahon.

We were warmly welcomed by Vincent, the Rescue Manager, who gave us a fantastic tour of the centre. He introduced us to the many animals currently in their care and explained how animals arrive at the shelter, as well as how people can become volunteers to help with dog walking and other supports.

The CSPCA does incredible work caring for strays, abandoned pets, and wildlife in need of rehabilitation before release. The wide range of animals currently at the centre includes dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, budgies, owls, rabbits, ducklings, goats, fish, and even a rooster!

A definite highlight of the visit was meeting Sprocket, a Welsh Foxhound who quickly became a firm favourite and thoroughly enjoyed all the cuddles and attention 🐶💙

A huge thank you to Vincent and everyone at the CSPCA for welcoming us and sharing the amazing work you do. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were so impressed by the care, dedication, and hard work involved in looking after the animals.
