✨️My emphasis is on health gain
rather than weight loss ✨️

By working as a weight inclusive dietitian, I promote an all-encompassing approach to health and nutrition that respects body diversity and focuses on individualised care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

✨️Here’s why women should prioritize weight-bearing exercises:

1. Improved Muscular Strength and Function:
Muscles tend to weaken with age, and weight-bearing exercises help maintain and increase muscle mass and strength. By engaging in such exercises, women can enhance functional abilities, perform daily activities more efficiently, and reduce the risk of injury.

2. Bone Health:
Weight-bearing exercises are key for bone health; they stimulate bone formation and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. As women are more susceptible to bone loss, especially post-menopause, incorporating these exercises can help maintain bone density.

3. Mental Health:
Exercise releases endorphins, which act as natural mood lifters. Weight-bearing exercises can reduce the risk of depression and anxiety and improve self-esteem, which is crucial for a positive relationship with food and body image.

4. Emphasis on Ability Over Appearance:
Focusing on what your body can do rather than how it looks can be empowering. It changes the conversation from being about losing weight to gaining strength, stability, flexibility, and endurance.

✨️ Let's build resilience and embrace a sustainable fitness lifestyle that's about more than just numbers.

To truly uncover your food preferences and get more joy from your meals, delve into the sensory aspects of your meals.

This involves a deliberate phase of food exploration. Send your taste buds on a sensory adventure. While savouring your food, think about:

🍏 Texture
🍉 Appearance

It's completely up to you how much food you want to eat today or how much food your body needs. There's more to worry about in life than eating more than the manufacturers guidelines.

😋 Remember your body, your choice.

Cutting down on meals can often seem like a quick fix, particularly when outfits start to snug or there's an upcoming occasion like a wedding or holiday. It's pretty surprising how frequently this leads to unintentionally eating less than what's needed. This pattern of undereating often sets the stage for overeating later on.

Vitamins C and the B group are present in numerous foods but only in small quantities. Our bodies can't store these water-soluble vitamins, so any excess is flushed out in our urine. So if you take a supplement which is packed with nutrients, you might notice your urine turning a bright yellow, which is often due to the vitamin B2, also known as Riboflavin.

💖 Experiencing menopause before age 45 increases the risk of developing coronary heart disease.

Though menopause itself doesn't cause heart conditions, it can still make you more susceptible to them. Oestrogen levels before menopause may contribute to this difference in risk.

✨️ It's important to remember that heart health changes can start long before your last period. During perimenopause, you might experience more heart palpitations, which can be a normal part of the process but are worth discussing with your doctor if they are frequent.

⚠️ Other risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure, raised cholesterol and triglycerides, increased visceral fat, prediabetes, and diabetes, as well as a sedentary lifestyle and smoking.
