A year after the birth of my youngest child, my brother died by su***de. At the same time, a toxic relationship was breaking down, and I was navigating single parenthood.
I continued to function outwardly. I was holding emotional overwhelm and exhaustion I did not know how to process. Eventually I reached a point of burnout. I didn't understand how to move through complex grief, relational trauma, and stress. Life continued to demand more, while I was becoming more depleted, and disconnected.
Reiki was the initial turning point. It brought my first wave of clarity, but I was stuck in a pattern of overwhelm and fatigue. Then, my second brother died by su***de, this blew open the doors of older grief. I did what I knew how to do: I compartmentalized, suppressed everything. Over time, unresolved grief surfaced.
My true breakthrough came when I entered a therapeutic healing space and discovered transpersonal work. Through this I began processing the grief, trauma, fatigue, and emotional patterns held in my body for too long.
I began to understand the link between unresolved material and physical health. I learned that holding pain, grief, and emotions needs to find a way out, so when we suppress it, it creates the exact internal conditions for feeling loss, uncertainty and exhaustion from an overwhelmed nervous system.
I knew I needed to ground this healing into my physical body. I trained and immersed myself in body-based therapies: reflexology, massage, Indian head massage, meditation, and a deeper connection with nature through shamanic practice. I was drawn to a softer, more feminine approach to healing - one that honours intuition, embodiment, cyclical wisdom, and the deep listening that shamanic practices offer.
This forms the foundation of my work today - through therapeutic bodywork and my 8-session pathway, the Inner Garden of Transformation, weaving together shamanic healing, Reiki, meditation, and embodied awareness to bring clarity, renewed purpose, and deep healing on mind & body.
My personal experience showed me how profoundly necessary it is to create a safe space to hold women through change.
