❓What’s the difference between Yin and Restorative yoga ❓ I get asked this a lot and so here’s a little post that hopefully helps.

In short, Yin yoga has an edge. For the deep fascia release you will be challenged.

Restorative yoga is a reset for the nervous system and you will be fully supported by props throughout.

Expect yogic philosophy, quotes from ancient texts as well as small class size and a beautiful little studio. ✨

Both styles have huge benefits, have a look and let me know which one calls to you?🧘🏼‍♀️

Restorative classes are on Tuesdays at 8pm
Yin classes are on Thursdays at 6pm

MAY MOMENTS ✨
1) Mothers circle ⭕️ connection, women gathering, space to share and meeting mums to be. These are probably some of my favourite things at this stage of my life ☺️
2) La luna 🌒 y mi Luna 🐈‍⬛ hot evenings after class finish and moon lights up the sky 😍
3) The sun ☀️ all day in the garden with this dude, made one week of parenting a lot easier 🤣
4) Cousins meet up 🫂 watching these two hug was so cute 🥰 ( in between the fights over toys ) 🙈
5) Teaching with my teachers .ie .ie a full circle moment and the most gorgeous day thanks to the beautiful Sinead ❤️for organising and including me 🥹

Amongst the moments of joy there has also been those of overwhelm, exhaustion, fear and sadness.

For me the work isn’t an absence of negative emotions but the ability to let them be, to stay with them til they pass 🙌 grateful to my daily practices that allow we to do this 🧘🏼‍♀️

CONNECTION!!! The number one thing that mothers say they want from our ⭕️.

This monthly meet up is 💯 FREE.

⁉️Why? Because I desperately needed a mothers circle and couldn’t find one.

🫂I still crave connection with other mothers, to share and laugh and cry about this crazy rollercoaster 🙈

❤️ Motherhood has been for me the most beautiful AND brutal experience and sometimes I feel like we don’t talk about it enough…

😓 the sleep deprivation, the post birth trauma and recovery. The loneliness! The overwhelm!

😕 The anxiety that you are not doing enough when you are doing all that you possibly can.

If this resonates for you, or someone you know, our next circle in on Thursday 28th May at 8:30pm.

We will have a summer meet up on a Sunday morning as well, which will be an extra special one ✨🙏🏼

✨ YIN to SLEEP event ✨
In a world that never stops asking for more, the most rebellious thing you can do is rest.

Join us for a two hour workshop designed to bridge the gap between the busyness of your day and the sanctuary of your sleep.

We will start with floor based Yin postures, targeting the connective tissues and clearing the noise from the nervous system. We’ll then finish up with a long, guided Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) to ensure you drift home in a state of relaxation, ready for a deep sleep.

Ladies- this is an IMPORTANT one!! Week four and your period is here! You’re in your winter season ❄️ If you’re like me you feel more tired/ irritable and in need of comfort. Here’s why:

😴 estrogen and progesterone levels plummet. This causes a dip in serotonin and dopamine, leaving you feeling depleted.

🥵your body temperature rises. Your body is working harder just to keep you going!

😥The rise of prostaglandins (the chemicals that cause cramping) triggers an inflammatory response.

What’s the answer then???? REST!!!! And yes I know that’s not always possible with deadlines and babies and life but maybe just small little things might help.

This is what I do now (after nearly 30 years of not listening to my body):

💤 I go to bed earlier and when/ if Teo naps I go to bed too whether I sleep or not

🙅🏼‍♀️I say no to anything that isn’t necessary and plan my month to allow for this (not always possible but I do my best)

🙌 I ask for more help from loved ones

☕️ I lie on the couch and drink tea and leave Teo to play by himself

In case you think it’s just you, it’s not!! It’s science!!
Lower hormones mean a higher sensitivity to cortisol . You’re biologically more prone to burnout this week
Take rest, Take breaths, Take care of yourself ❤️

If you’re in week 3 of your cycle and wondering why your Chaturanga felt a little more challenging today, maybe check in with your body.
I’m in Week 3, which means my metabolism is up, my body temp and progesterone is higher and my ability to socialise is lower.

This flow was less about the poses and more about clearing out the brain fog.
Anyone else feeling that Luteal shift right now?

Very grateful to be able to spend this evening with women who decided to give themselves a few hours of rest 😌

restorative yoga is one of the most powerful ways to move in to rest and digest mode 🙌
To lower cortisol and build mental resilience by lying in stillness for long periods of time. 🧘🏼‍♀️

I ❤️ this yoga style and was so happy to see these women come and put themselves first.

Now here is a very high speed video of me sorting the space 😅
