God,I am going to try and do something I find hard.Something I am not sure I can pull offI will hear many voices as I go, ‘you are too old for this’, ‘who would want this?’, ‘you don’t know enough’, ‘it’s too much’, ‘it’s not enough’…Allow me to hear those voices, and mov...

May you find a certain solidarity with others who are waiting

May you be gentle on yourself as you prepare to leave the thin comfort of not knowing for sure you haven’t been accepted

To finding out whether you or not you have been.

May you be blessed by a sense that whatever happens
The stretch you made to be considered was not wasted
If only, because the fact you tried, will in time be its own comfort.

May you, whenever your time might come to be the maker of decisions that others will wait on,

Remember what matters most to you now as one who waits.

If the decision doesn’t go as you would wish
May you find the strength and compassion to love fiercely the disappointed part of you
And to face down firmly the flurry of negative voices that may stir up

And should the decision go as you would wish
May you give thanks where it’s due,

Find time to celebrate what’s been achieved
and be open to how this new step may bless yourself and others.

May you find a certain solidarity with others who are waiting May you be gentle on yourself as you prepare to leave the thin comfort of not knowing for sure you haven’t been acceptedTo finding out whether you or not you have been.May you be blessed by a sense that whatever happens The stretch you ...

With all the changes in how people relate to Church and religion, how do we go about taking care of our inner lives?

How do we create spaces together to connect with what actually going on for ourselves, and to connect with whatever it is that gives us energy and hope?

Where can you speak honestly about faith- the hope it can give, and the questions that it sometimes prompts?

A force of nature...that's how Julie Fairhurst describes herself. Her Women Like Me Stories and Business podcast aims to give women a chance tell their story. I was delighted to join her recently, and this International Women's Day weekend feels like a fitting time to put this out.

It's a cliche to say it's a privilege to be part of someone's wedding day, but it so very true>

It's an honour to be trusted by a couple with their story . And to hear from them on ' Why marriage, and why now?'. Getting to create a ceremony that is right for a couple, and holding the space that allows them cement their commitment in front of all the people that really matter to them, is something I will never take for granted.

Getting to hang out in various stunning Donegal locations, is another perk!

So to all the couples who trusted me with their big day this year - a big thank you. Best wishes to you all as your married journey starts off, especially for your first married Christmas. May it be the first of many as a happily married couple.

Very exciting to receive this book in the post, and to see my name, along with many others* on the cover.

'Gather' traces the history and contemporary practice of women's 'circles'/ gatherings. Over 60 contributions speak to why they matter, and how they can be spaces of support, healing and lasting growth, and a chance to revisit some familiar stories from a women's point of view.

Published by it can be purchased at https://womancraftpublishing.com/product/gather-a-celebration-of-womens-circles/

And for those who might like to hear the piece I wrote that's in it, here's link to me reading it ( during Covid- hence the longer than normal hair!) https://www.patriciahiggins.ie/post/new-annunciations

*Delighted one of those others is fellow Interfaith minister, Rev Jo Royle

'Women's circles'...

I am not sure that any of the groups of 'girl' friends I am lucky enough to be part of - from school friends, to college friends, to friends from a volunteer programme in my twenties, the 'Mammies on the run' group that I met in parent and toddler group, and in more recent years the group of women I have met through sea-swimming/ dipping.. would think of themselves as 'a women's circle'.

I am not sure that I would either to be honest.

So, it's funny to find myself published in a book that celebrates 'Women's Circles'.

What I can connect with is the title - 'Gather'. I love that. I have found the chance to gather with women in all these different groups, to have been such a source of strength, insight, support... and at times, some much needed belly laughs. All of them have been places to share stories - the ones that can make us laugh, and the ones that make us cry too. And it's out of a sense of what these gatherings of women can offer, in 'a world that so often seems so tilted towards men' that the piece I wrote that's included came.

Published by . Link to where you can buy it in linktree in bio

And for those who might prefer to hear it, there's also link to me reading it ( during Covid - hence the longer than usual hair!) https://www.patriciahiggins.ie/post/new-annunciations

Thanks for a great evening. In an age of AI and fake content, it was heartwarming to listen to true stories - some sad, some funny, all powerful - from real people. And very special too to get to share a story of my own...

Just some of the people who made our evening in on Friday in /Londonderry❤️

Such great stories - faith lost; faith found; faith questioned… & not just religious faith - faith in humans, faith in institutions. Wonderful😍

Thanks to everyone who made it all possible!👏
