Noticed a persistent bumpy rash around your mouth that won't settle? It might not be acne, and it might not be eczema either.

Perioral dermatitis is often triggered by steroid creams. They calm it down at first, but the moment you stop, it rebounds and comes back worse. Heavy, occlusive creams, overly aggressive skincare, and even toothpaste can all be culprits too.

The good news: it's treatable and it clears. My approach usually starts with stripping your routine right back-sometimes just washing with water and doing nothing else-before moving to a targeted prescription treatment if it needs it.

Two clinics, the same treatment, a price difference of €300 — is one of them ripping you off?

Not necessarily. The gap between a €150 quote and a €450 quote isn't random, and it isn't only about margin — it usually comes down to the practitioner's medical training, whether the product is genuine and undiluted, and whether you actually get a consultation before anyone reaches for a needle.

Swipe to see exactly what that price is paying for, including the parts you don't see on the day 👉

Cost matters, but it shouldn't be the only thing deciding where you book.

Meryl Streep is 77 and everyone in the industry is asking the same question: how?

She's never admitted to having anything done-and fair enough, plenty of people wouldn't. But looking at it as an aesthetic doctor: flawless skin, very few fine lines, and still natural movement around the eyes and mouth. That combination, at that age, usually isn't down to genetics alone.

My guess would be something subtle to soften expression lines before a big role, and possibly a biostimulator like Radiesse or Sculptra a few years back for volume, given there's little sign of loose skin or jowls.

Genetics, great skincare, or a little extra help-what's your take?

If your face flares red for no obvious reason, you're not imagining it-and it's not "just sensitive skin." ☘️

Around 1 in 10 Irish adults live with rosacea, and Celtic ancestry is one of the strongest known risk factors — which says a lot about why so many of us grew up being told to just try a gentler moisturiser.

Swipe for the signs that go beyond sensitivity, and the everyday triggers most people don't realise are setting it off 👉

It's a real medical condition, not something you're doing wrong with your skincare.

If you've got a stubborn patch on your face that just won't budge, check your toenails first.

A patient came in recently for a dermatology consultation about "acne" that kept clearing up and coming straight back, no matter what she tried. When I asked her to take off her socks, I found the actual cause. A thickened, yellowed toenail, a straightforward fungal infection she'd never treated.

Every time she took her socks off at night, she was picking up fungus on her fingers and touching her face with it. Fungal acne needs an antifungal treatment, not the acne products or antibiotics most people reach for first, those target bacteria, and this isn't bacterial.

If a breakout keeps "coming and going" no matter what you try, it might be worth looking somewhere other than your skincare shelf.

Anne Hathaway's skin has become the most talked-about thing in aesthetics this summer.

20 years after the first Devil Wears Prada, she's back on our screens at 42 or 43-still firm, no visible wrinkles, no pigmentation, incredible skin structure.

Nothing's been confirmed publicly, so this is just my professional read from photos: I'd guess a biostimulator like Sculptra or Radiesse along the cheekbones, plus something that keeps her expression natural rather than frozen.

What do you think-all natural, or a little help along the way? Let me know in the comments

A few things I've decided are worth making time for lately 🤍

Making the time to create a personalised plan for you that will work for your individual needs. Investing in my own skin, even though I'm usually the one doing the treating. Working alongside my daughter, who has become one of the best skin specialists I have ever met. Sitting through another course, because the day I think I know it all is the day I should probably stop. Getting to the gym with the girls, sore legs and all. And still turning up to a rally to spend quality time with my son, because that's just as much a part of my life as the clinic is.

I take pride in knowing that four generations of our family have been working in Newmarket Street Kells 💕

None of this is groundbreaking. It's just what "having a plan" actually looks like off camera.

Why are patients coming to me with "Spock brow"? 🖖

If you've had Botox and noticed your outer brow sitting higher than the rest of your forehead, almost villainous in shape, you're not imagining it.

It's more common than people think, and it comes down to where the toxin is placed (or isn't).

Swipe through to see what's actually happening underneath, and the simple fix that brings everything back into balance 👉

💊 Did you know that micronised progesterone can often be used either orally or vaginally?

Many women are prescribed micronised progesterone as part of their HRT regime, but not everyone realises that the route of administration can sometimes make a big difference to how they feel.

For some women, taking progesterone at bedtime can improve sleep and have a calming effect. Others may experience side effects such as morning grogginess, low mood or feeling “not quite themselves”. In these cases, using progesterone vaginally may be an option worth discussing.

Whether you’re on continuous HRT or cyclical HRT, progesterone is an important part of protecting the lining of the womb when using oestrogen.

If you’ve struggled with progesterone in the past, it doesn’t necessarily mean HRT isn’t right for you. Sometimes adjusting the dose, regimen or route of administration can make all the difference.
