Kingsriver Community was founded in 1987 and has been providing residential and day support programmes for adults and young people with varying abilities in a community setting since that date. The focus is on people’s abilities rather than their disabilities. The aim is that they are enabled to be included in society as much as possible and that they learn to participate in the world at large. In

itially providing workplace training and employment possibilities through high end furniture manufacture, Kingsriver now concentrates on providing quality, person centred, opportunities in a range of areas including woodwork, arts and craft, health related exercise and living skills. Funded by the HSE, Kingsriver Community also provides a residential service for a small group of people. Programmes are developed in response to the identified needs of everybody including those attending on a daily basis from the local area and our core group of residents. Kingsriver Community is a FETAC registered centre providing accredited courses and an accredited hosting organisation in the Europen Voluntary Service (EVS) programme.

🌍📚 European Voices – A Community Book

Some members of our Innovation Bridge group had the wonderful opportunity to attend a workshop this morning at the Hoban Hotel in Kilkenny.

The workshop, organised by KCETB, brought different groups together to share their experiences and views on how the European Union impacts everyday life, learning, work and our communities here in Ireland. 🇮🇪🇪🇺

It was a really interesting and enjoyable morning, with lots of ideas, conversations and experiences shared. 💬✨

We’re delighted that some of our group will be contributing to “European Voices – A Community Book by Learners in Kilkenny and Carlow”, which is due to be published this November! 📖

A fantastic opportunity for our members to have their voices and experiences included in something that celebrates our local learning communities. 👏💙

Some days are simply meant to be enjoyed. ☀️💜

Donna made the most of the beautiful sunshine with a wonderful day out at Shankill Castle — taking in the scenery, enjoying the outdoors and soaking up all the little moments that make a day special. 🌿🏰

We’ve been so lucky this year to have some truly beautiful weather, giving the people we support even more opportunities to get out, explore, connect and enjoy their community.

Because social care is about so much more than support with the everyday.

It’s about choice. Connection. Belonging. Independence. And having the opportunity to experience life in a way that is meaningful to you.

Sometimes, it’s a castle.
Sometimes, it’s sunshine on your face.
Sometimes, it’s stopping to admire a beautiful patch of flowers. 🌸

And sometimes, it’s simply having the freedom and support to enjoy a really lovely day.
