Happy Summer Solstice ☀️

Between June 20th and June 22nd, we experience the longest days of the year, with the Summer Solstice traditionally marked on June 21st here in the Northern Hemisphere. This year, it coincided with Father's Day, making it an especially lovely occasion to celebrate our father and all the wisdom, strength, and love that fathers bring into our lives.

I hope you found a way to mark this special turning point in the year whether through time with family, a walk in nature, a quiet moment of reflection, or simply by soaking up the extra daylight. If you need help recharging book one of the few remaining appointments this week.www.orlafoley.com

The solstice reminds us to pause, appreciate the light around us, and reconnect with the light within. May this season bring renewed energy, fresh inspiration, and opportunities to recharge your body, mind, and spirit.

Here's to long evenings, bright horizons, and making the most of these golden days. 🌞✨

A tough weekend on the scoreboard, but a proud one for Irish rugby. Two provinces in European finals is no small thing. The margins at that level are razor-thin — glory and heartbreak separated by moments. Here’s a polished social caption with the right balance of respect, pride and grace.

Heartbreak for both Leinster and Ulster this weekend, but what an achievement to have two Irish provinces reach European finals.

That takes resilience. Depth. Belief. And serious heart.

Congratulations to Bordeaux and Montpellier on their victories — worthy champions on the day.

As a proud Munster woman, I know rivalry is part of the magic… but so too is respect. Irish rugby continues to punch above its weight and make us proud on the European stage.

Win or lose, the jersey is carried with passion, courage and pride.

Here’s to the players, coaches, supporters and communities behind it all.

Different provinces. One rugby family. ❤️☘️🏉

Proud Respect Unity

EMDR is having a moment — and for good reason.

Originally developed as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer carry the same emotional charge. Think of it as helping your nervous system finally file away what it never got to finish processing.

✨ Where EMDR shines

- Trauma (single incident or complex)
- PTSD and childhood adversity
- Anxiety and panic patterns rooted in past events
- Phobias and performance anxiety
- Grief and unresolved emotional shock

There’s robust research behind it — organisations like the WHO and many clinical bodies recognise EMDR as an effective treatment for trauma. It’s not hype; it’s neuroscience meeting compassionate care.

And yes, its rise into mainstream awareness has been helped by public figures (including artists like Taylor Swift and others) speaking more openly about therapy. That visibility matters — it reduces stigma and opens doors.

But here’s the grounded truth:

⚠️ EMDR is not for everyone, and not for every moment.

If someone is currently:

- In acute mental health crisis
- Experiencing active suicidal ideation
- Struggling with severe dissociation or instability
- Recently destabilised (e.g. major life shock, psychosis, unmanaged bipolar episode)

➡️ This is not the starting point.

In these cases, the priority is stabilisation first — and that means:

- Working closely with your GP
- Involving a psychiatrist where appropriate
- Creating safety, containment, and support

No shortcuts. No bypassing.

🌿 What can help instead (or alongside):

- Nervous system regulation (breathwork, grounding, orienting)
- Gentle body-based therapies
- Consistent routine and sleep support
- Safe human connection (this one is medicine)
- Trauma-informed therapy that focuses on resourcing before processing

EMDR is powerful — but like any powerful tool, timing and readiness are everything.

This isn’t about exclusion. It’s about precision care.

Your nervous system isn’t a problem to fix — it’s a system to support, regulate, and respect.

And when the ground is steady

Beannachtaí na Bealtaine daoibh 🌿
(Blessings of May Day to you)

In the spirit of Beltane, an ancient Celtic festival honouring fire, fertility, and the full bloom of life — a time when the veil is thin, and nature invites us to step forward, to be seen, and to live fully.

Long ago, the Druids and priestesses marked this turning point of the year with ritual fires, celebration, and deep connection to the land — a reminder that life is not meant to be held back, but expressed, embodied, and enjoyed.

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat 🌸
(May your path rise to meet you) Happy May Day 🌸

A celebration of light, life, and renewal.
A reminder that you are allowed to feel joy, to take up space, to move, to dance, to live fully.

As nature blooms all around us — from primroses to bluebells, cherry blossom to golden tulips — may you also open, soften, and step into your own season of growth.

May you feel freedom in your body,
connection in your heart,
and trust in your path.

This is your time 🌿

Tomorrow marks Buddha Poornima — the full moon under which Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment.

Before this, he pushed himself to extremes through self-mortification, becoming frail in the process. It was only when he realised this wasn’t the path that he chose nourishment, balance, and what we now call the middle way. With deep resolve, he sat beneath the Bodhi tree, committed to not rising until he found freedom.

There’s something powerful in that reminder —
not to delay, not to wait for the “perfect time,”
but to gently commit to our own path of healing and freedom, now.

I feel incredibly grateful to have visited Sarnath and to have sat beneath the Bodhi tree myself… although I’ll admit, I didn’t quite wait long enough for full enlightenment just yet.

And when I visited the caves in Dungeshwari Caves — where Buddha once practised such extreme austerity — I received a very clear message:

There is no wisdom in hiding away,
no freedom in starving yourself from life.

Life is for living.
To be experienced.
To be enjoyed.

We are not here to withdraw from it —
we are here to fully step into it.

If you’ve been thinking about starting, returning, or going deeper in your own healing journey — this is your nudge.

Appointments are open over the next two weeks, with limited availability before June.
