The Donegal Centre for Independent Living (DCIL) is an organisation of and for people with physical and sensory disabilities, established in Donegal in 1999. The Donegal Centre for Independent Living is an organisation of people with disabilities who seek to empower and enable people with disabilities to enhance their quality of life, to assist them in achieving independent living and, to assist t
hem in participating in social and economic life. We people with disabilities, seek to gain our rightful place in society and to have the same access to all life’s opportunities, which are afforded to our non-disabled counterparts. We in the Donegal Centre for Independent Living believe that this can be achieved through the removal of the many physical, social and psychological barriers, which currently exist in our society. We also wish to see people with disabilities have a greater input into all local developments. Our national guiding philosophy is summed up as “Nothing about us, without us".
