💚💗 JUNE IS LIPOEDEMA AWARENESS MONTH 💗💚
Lipoedema is a chronic condition that causes an abnormal build-up of fat, most commonly in the legs, hips, buttocks, and sometimes the arms. It primarily affects women and is often misunderstood or mistaken for obesity or lymphoedema.
Common symptoms include:
✨ Disproportionately larger legs or arms
✨ Painful, tender tissue
✨ Easy bruising
✨ Heaviness and swelling
✨ Difficulty losing fat in affected areas despite diet and exercise.
Early diagnosis and appropriate management can make a significant difference in reducing symptoms and improving quality of life. Treatment may include compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise, healthy nutrition, and ongoing support from a trained therapist.
