As a child, I got trapped inside a wheelie bin. It sounds funny now, but it left a lasting mark.
For years afterwards, I struggled with claustrophobia. Being stuck in traffic, sitting in a queue, getting into the back of a three-door car, elevators, buses, planes, anywhere that felt difficult to leave quickly could trigger panic.
When I first discovered floating, I had the same concerns many people have.
“What if I feel trapped?”
So I did what I always do. I researched everything.
Over the years, I visited float centres in different countries and tried all sorts of float tanks, large and small, different manufacturers, different designs, pods with mechanical lids, open pools, and everything in between.
The float pods we chose at Revival Float Rooms were chosen for a reason.
The lid is lightweight and easy to open at any time. There’s plenty of space inside, and you’re always in complete control. You can leave the lid open, turn the lights on, or get out whenever you want.
That’s why when someone tells me they’re nervous about claustrophobia, I understand exactly where they’re coming from.
If you’re curious about floating but your claustrophobia is holding you back, feel free to reach out. We’re always happy to answer questions and help you feel comfortable before you ever step into a float room.
