🗳️ Why I’ll Be Spoiling My Vote on Friday 🇮🇪
I’ll be honest — I’ve always believed in using my vote. But this Friday, I’ll be spoiling it. Not out of apathy, but out of pure frustration with a system that’s failing the people it’s supposed to serve.
Let’s call it what it is: the same two parties — Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil — continue to control who even gets on the ballot. They’ve effectively shut out real alternatives, blocking genuine independent voices and ensuring that “choice” is really just more of the same.
Meanwhile, Ireland has never had more money — record tax revenues, booming multinationals, surpluses in the billions — and yet, can anyone honestly say they feel it?
Our healthcare system is still broken.
Housing is a crisis.
Infrastructure is decades behind where it should be.
Public services are stretched to breaking point.
So no, I won’t tick a box just to keep up appearances. Spoiling my vote is my way of saying I’m done accepting mediocrity wrapped in tradition.
Until we see courage, vision, and accountability from our leaders — not just recycled promises — I’ll keep showing up to vote, but I won’t play along with a rigged status quo.
